mall0y Posted August 24, 2005 Report Posted August 24, 2005 Hey, my throttle cable crapped out on me last week and i finnaly got around to going to pick a new one up. Can anyone help explain to me how to get the old one off and get the new one on? I have the carb tops off already and all, i just need some help getting the cables out. Any help is appreciated, thanks! Quote
odaen Posted August 24, 2005 Report Posted August 24, 2005 stock carbs, I'm assuming? if so, hold the slide upside down and compress the spring against the cap with your fingers. tap on the slide with your hand and a clip will most likely fall out. this is what keeps the cable end locked in the slide. once that clip comes out, you can slide the cable end out of the notch in the slide. once you have the cable out and there's no spring, take that clip and put it back in the slide so you know how it goes in and can see what it's doing. trying to figure it out when you're compressing the spring, trying to get the damn cable in the slot...oh, you'll know what I'm talking about when you go to do it. the first couple of times, it's a real pain the ass. once you get it down, it's pretty easy. odaen Posted August 24, 2005 Report Posted August 24, 2005 one more thing, be careful not to bend the tips of the needles. it's easy to do Quote
mall0y Posted August 24, 2005 Author Report Posted August 24, 2005 Alright, thanks alot, i'll give it a try. Ohh and by the way, they are the stock carbs. Thanks! Quote
racer714 Posted August 24, 2005 Report Posted August 24, 2005 another tip is to zip tye the springs once compressed on both sides, then when you reinstall you just cut the zip ties and remove once you have the new cable installed, worked nicely for me Quote
mall0y Posted August 25, 2005 Author Report Posted August 25, 2005 thanks guys i hooked it all up, it worked great, thanks for the tips! Quote
