Out to get my ATV Mechanic's Deg.

Hey HQ!

 

I'm out to get my ATV Deg. and I need some help on where to get my ED at. Working on quad is something I love to do, some I want to make a career out of it, any info will help!

I heard of a motorcycle tech school in florida thats supposed to be very high rated

ive been looking at the program from Education Direct b/c of the on-line classes, anyone heard anything about 'em?

only place i know of is m m i motorcycle mechanics institute..there is one in pheonix and one in florida some place

none of the service techs i used to work with went through that shit. the only specialized training they got was when one went to racetech school for susp, which the service manager teaches. i was on my way to being in the service department when i left for school, 3 months later and id be in. so, in this case, id say skip schooling. going to school for racecar motors is one thing, but to change oil on a sportsman 500 it isnt necessary.

 

go start applying at local dealers to do setup/assembly type work. its nothing fancy but you make around $10/hr (around here anyways). plus its a great way to build your tool set, whic youll end up with over 10k in really easy. so the more you can stagger that cost, the better. craftsman is ok for the handy man, but youre gonna want something a lil better if youre using it to put bread on the table.

ive got the tools here at home b/c my dads a car mechanic, which helps, but, ill see what i can find out then. i would like to open my own shop up here at home b/c i can do everything from like u said, basic oil change to a full motor tear down and re-build. it kindof helps to be able to prove ur skill in a small town
