Where does the Red wire with black stripe go?

I am working on a 1996 Banshee and there is a red wire coming out of the box behind the seat that ends under the gas tank... this wire looks like it is broken... does anybody know what this wire is supposed to connect to? Thanks

The black box is the CDI unit. ... That wire (red/ black) goes to the key switch. It has to be a closed cicuit to earth to run. (In other words, if the key switch has been done away with, then take that wire directly to earth).

Thank you Rare, yes the key was removed so long ago I had forgotten all about it.... I will ground the wire

 

Also... are all the solid black wires ground?

If it's original harness, then yes.
