How did this happen?

I broke my kickstart gear when i wasnt even starting it...

I was hydroplaning, i think in 5th gear, and got spun around. I did a 360 across the water and another 180 just as i was hitting the sand on the other side. I heard a loud pop and figured the worst...i sheared gear...but it turns out it was only the kick start gear. Is this common? How could it have happened??

Anyone experience something like this before??

I also found piles of orange plastic like shit in the bottom of the clutch cover i dont know where it could have possibly came from...i changed my oil before i went on the trip and i dont think anyone could have slipped anything in it without me knowing.... any idea what this might be?

I'm guessing the kickstarter got pushed by either your foot or the water. The plastic in the bottom may be the plastic from the kickstarter assembly itself.

Here's is a pic. It's a plastic spacer that goes in there.

Yup, when I first got my banshee the same thing happened. I was goin up a hill and it came backwards on me and Im guessing my pant leg caught the kickstarter. Snapped the bitch plum in half.

Ya... that plastic piece was my first thought too.....but that wasnt it...oh well..hopefully when i put it back together it still wont sound screwed up

no big deal, like stclark said samething happened to his. fixed it and its been fine ever since. its just a freak occurance really. our yammy dealer said they have never seen one broke so it doesnt happen too often...
