grounded Posted July 13, 2005 Report Posted July 13, 2005 I always thought they were, and I'm getting ready to order a new set in a day or two , called alba , they told me they are different and will not interchangle, I can't see why this is the case, the stock lower a arms are identical and the yamaha front shock part number is the same for all years. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't understand why they won't work. Quote
Banshee~ Posted July 13, 2005 Report Posted July 13, 2005 There is, The j-arm mount is not as long as the top arm mount, so your going to have to order a conversion kit. BTW I wouldent buy anything from alba. Quote
EXtreme- Posted July 13, 2005 Report Posted July 13, 2005 there's no difference. I have j-arms with 2001 shocks on it. same travel, same setup, same bolts Quote
Banshee17Racing Posted July 13, 2005 Report Posted July 13, 2005 I guess I never really heard of anybody trying. I wouldn't see too much of a difference if any. Are you sure they knew you were talking about the shocks and the a-arms? Quote
grounded Posted July 13, 2005 Author Report Posted July 13, 2005 Thanks for the replies, yes I asked them about the shocks only, they told me it would be an additional 50-60 bux for shocks on a j arm set up. However , it seems they either misunderstood what I asked or trying to yank my chain. Going to order a set from them any way I guess. Quote
Dark Ranger Posted July 13, 2005 Report Posted July 13, 2005 I'm a little confused. Are you wondering if the arms are interchangable or the shocks? The upper arms are not interchangable, but the shocks are. I used the shocks off my 88' frame (j-arms) on my 2002 frame (a-arms). Quote
sandbomb Posted July 13, 2005 Report Posted July 13, 2005 It's obvious that the top arm's are not the same, but the forward upper mount is in the same place as any 90 thru 05 banshee. I do the j arm to a-arm conversion's all the time. If you look at a banshee with a-arm's you will notice all they did from the j arm chassis was add a tube and mount. Besides that everything is the same. Quote
grounded Posted July 13, 2005 Author Report Posted July 13, 2005 Sorry dudes, I was just asking about the shock itself, if the 87-90 was any different from 91 -05. Quote
EXtreme- Posted July 13, 2005 Report Posted July 13, 2005 sounds like they're taking you for a ride Quote
