tooantc Posted July 8, 2005 Report Posted July 8, 2005 I just rebuilt my Banshee and had it bored, plus new pistons and rings. I fired it up for the first time and she got hot really quick at idle within a min. I tried feeling her up on her cylinders and it burnt my hand. Is this normal for a new rebuilt? Quote
80overShee Posted July 8, 2005 Report Posted July 8, 2005 NO, thats not normal. Check your water pump impellar and seals and check your radiator for flow. A Shee will get hot at idle but not that quickly since it is "partially" water cooled. A water cooled system that relies on air cooling to cool the fluid will overheat or heat up substantially when idling since no air is flowing through the cooling fins of the liquid heatsiink (radiator). If yours is overheating very rapidly, check your coolant flow first then check your jetting. At idle you shouldnt have overheating due to jetting but it is always a possibility Quote

Now Ill keep it more briefe. Thanx dude Quote
superchicken Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 well,in a while you should let her idle and warm up before ripping on it.it gives time for the cylinders to expand, andnot just the pistons.especialy in the colder months it is good practice.its is called a cold seize.the pistons heat up,and expand before the jugs do.and for the guy with the hot jugs, that is in no way normal.you might have an air pocket in it.pop the radiator cap, hold yor hand over the top to make a seal and give the lower hose a squeeze.it kinda pushes the cooland trough the engine and moves andy air around. tooantc Posted July 11, 2005 Author Report Posted July 11, 2005 (edited) Thanks guys for the help. Could have been an air buble but I will check the jetting. Edited July 11, 2005 by tooantc Quote
