Ori Posted July 8, 2005 Report Posted July 8, 2005 I got the vito jet kit for a blaster of ours and it wont run with it.i think the stock main was 200 or 220.When i installed their 290 jet I ran it WOT and it just didnt have any power then the stock jetting.Right now its all pur back to gather the stock way and it runs great even tho it has fmf exahust, clamp on airfilter.i looked at the plu and its on the dark side.Do you tihnk I should go down on the jetting to 1 190?btw im at 5000ft altitude. Banshee~ Posted July 8, 2005 Report Posted July 8, 2005 Is it bogging at WOT with the 290 main jet in? I think i put in a 300 main on my friends blaster with a b-1 pipe, vforce reed cage, and the lid off. If its not bogging with the 290 main in leave it in there, if you leave the stock jetting in there your going to blow your engine up. Quote
Ori Posted July 8, 2005 Author Report Posted July 8, 2005 Ya it bogs at WOT and doesnt seem the get enough power with that 290 in.So i just changed back to stock and it runs great. The plug is alittle black thats bout it. Quote
Rare Scottish Tree Badger Posted July 8, 2005 Report Posted July 8, 2005 QUOTE: " ...So i just changed back to stock and it runs great. The plug is alittle black thats bout it." ... Don't understand that . Was it a fresh plug, or the one that was blackened from the 290 jet? I take it you're jetting because you've added the pipes. Did you tell them you were at 5000 ft when you ordered your jet kit? ... 5000 ft = less air and less of a requirement in jetting than at sea level. Try coming down on the mains. Jet correction from sea level to 5000ft at the same temperature is about 0.955 ... 290 jet x 0.955 = 277 rounded up to the next jet size gives you 280. Try a 280 and if it still doesn't pull, try a 270. You will overheat that engine unless you rejet. Rare. Quote
80overShee Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 I just did a rebuild on a friends blaster and rejetted per Vitos instructions. It was a Pro Circuit Platinum and Vito's said to jump up to a 250. I put the 250 in and went with his needle specs. I wasn't there for the break in period but my buddy called me up and said it had 'zero' power in the top end so they went down to a 230 and it ran "like a raped ape". I think it might be a size to low but who knows. I rode it for a few minutes and it revs out in the top so I think it might be a size too low but I'll find out next week when he returns from vacation. The only mods it has is the pipe. No aftermarket filter and stock airbox config. He has much to learn. I was pretty impressed by that little "blastard" when I rode it and raced against a 250ex and absolutely stomped it by 6 lengths off the line and kept pulling very hard. Next I raced a 400ex and took it by about 1 1/2 lengths in a 200 yd race. Not too shabby for a 200cc puddle jumper. That 290 just sounds huge to me especially at that elevation. Get a fresh plug and try a high rev run-out again and check the ring. My guess is you are very rich at 290. Stock is a 230 btw, unless the dealership put a 220 in it, which happens. My Banshee had 190's!! Stock spec is 220. Quote
