Banshee hard on gas

Got a yamaha banshee 2001 almost stock

 

only as:

prodesing air filter and adaterplate with no air box lid

and fmf silencers

 

why is it so hard on gas only does about 60 km on a tank

 

and my friend with raptor and yfz 450 only take like 1/2 or 1/4 of a tank of gas

 

Is it normal im wondering and im worried

that sounds about right to me. poker runs that we go on average 25-30 miles, and i use about 3/4 tank on them, depending on how much playing around we do throughout the ride. my buddy's raptor does much better on gas. that power band really sucks it up if your in it all the time. i think you'll find that your better off than a lot of other shee's loaded with mods, they probably get about 1/2 the gas mileage we do.

I get about 1 1/2 hrs on a tank, about half of what I got before mods. At Glamis, I am always the one who makes everyone come back for gas, the DSs and Raptors and 400EX need about 1 gal for my 3 1/2.

you could run a 2 into 1 carb and a aftermarket fuel tank, they make 4 and 5 gallon sizes, those should help out alot.

i have the 2-1 and havent noticied any more fuel effecient. maybe that is because its still running fat. when i went riding with my sisters boyfriend and his friend which has a stock shee and with my 2-1 he never had a full tank and i was filled right up to the top and i ran out of gas before him and he wasnt even on his reserve when i ran out. what the hell is up with that?he also has pipes and silencers on his the same as mine

that's weird. not sure if it was the 33mm 2-1 carb that was good on gas over stock carbs, maybe i'm wrong.

ya i have the 35. could this be because of my shee not being ported with a bigger carb?

60km on 12 litres sounds about right. I get similar to that, usually use about 18 litres on 90kms...(STD shee, Pro circuit pipes and aftermarket filter - no lid)

I got 36mm. lectrons that just suck up the fuel!! Which sucks really bad since i run 50/50 mix of 91 and110 octane(bout $14 bucks for a 5 gal. can).

compare to them even if there fourwheller are modified and go faster then mine.

yeah you gotta pay the cost to be the boss. just get a big ass tank though and you will ride as long as a 4 stroke.

Yep, your gas mileage sounds about right. I get about 1 hour of HARD trail riding (MX style) out of a one tank where as my friends 400ex and anothers 450R use less than a gallon each. BUT.....I stomp the hell outta them. You gotta pay to play and when you play hard, you pay big.
