stclark816 Posted July 1, 2005 Report Posted July 1, 2005 if i bore it wont that up the cc's? what will happen if i dont bore and hone the cylinders? 387427[/snapback] You dont want to just put stock pistons back into it. Order pistons for the next bore size you are on and take the pistons and cylinders to your "mechanic" and have him or her bore/hone your cylinders to match the pistons. Really, there's no way around having to rebuild your bike. You gotta do it no matter what if you want to be able to ride it, so dont do it half ass. Do it the right way. www.rockymountainatv.com Order your pistons/rings/circlips/bearings/wristpins from there. Quote
bansheefreestyler Posted July 1, 2005 Author Report Posted July 1, 2005 alright man. so if its std now what is the next size? will this give me more hp or power? from boring? Quote

If the walls are all fucked up from whatever you did to it, you might have to go a couple sizes. It's all up to ur mechanic or builder, whatever they think will clean it all up. You wont notice any added power from just boring. It may run a little better due to it needing to be rebuilt, but ur not gonna notice significant power gains. Quote
bansheefreestyler Posted July 1, 2005 Author Report Posted July 1, 2005 alright. the walls are nice and clean and no dings or anything. when i put the new pistons and such in do i have to take the jugs off or can i put them in with the head off? alright. thanks later Quote
. Posted July 1, 2005 Report Posted July 1, 2005 did you do a compression test to see if you even needed a rebuild? Quote

How do you imagine you'ye going to get the pistons off the connecting rods without removing the cylinders? Within 10 mins of your 1st post, it was suggested that you do a compression check. ... And again, so many times in the following threads. You need a Clymer Manual! Rare. Quote

bansheefreestyler Posted July 1, 2005 Author Report Posted July 1, 2005 my clymers is on its way. i ordered it last week. ya that was a stupid question asking if i could take it off with only the head off and i forgot about the connecting rods. my bad. as for compression. 3 guys say it is the rings bad theres me, my dad and as soon as i told him what happened he said a ring was gone, and a friend of ours that is a mechanic. my dad logs and he said when a chainsaw blows a ring that is what happens so you tell me what else it could be? Rare Scottish Tree Badger Posted July 1, 2005 Report Posted July 1, 2005 my clymers is on its way. At last! ... We'll miss you in the repairs forum. as for compression. 3 guys say it is the rings bad theres me, my dad and as soon as i told him what happened he said a ring was gone, and a friend of ours that is a mechanic. my dad logs and he said when a chainsaw blows a ring that is what happens so you tell me what else it could be? You're right, it is most likely a broken ring. But in your first post you said ... "the kickstarter feels harder to push". Either you were just imagining it, or it's more than 'just' a broken ring. ... The loss of compression would have made it easier to turn the engine over on the kickstart. Rare. Quote
. Posted July 1, 2005 Report Posted July 1, 2005 why dont you go take your cylinders off right now and tell us what is really wrong with the top end? Quote
