comillshee Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 ....anyone have recomendations for the best dirt tire for the dunes. they say the paddle tires tear up the dunes too much in a race with tons of people so they aren't allowed except front.. i called itp and some guy said HD's but i was thinking those were too heavy. DuneRoller Posted June 25, 2005 Report Posted June 25, 2005 Klaws are pretty badass. I kinda like them better than my Holeshots. Quote

crbanshee Posted July 1, 2005 Report Posted July 1, 2005 i used to run the kenda scorpion on my 250r and i never had one bad thing to say about them..i seem to get the best hook up on those..i was beating guys with paddles when i ran that tire Quote
namshee Posted July 6, 2005 Report Posted July 6, 2005 we run 95% dunes, and 5% dirt and dry river beds. i recently bought tires and the same question - do i go for padles or more of an all-rounder? by us the guys use mainly 3 types: Kenda - Bearclaw (6ply rating and quite heavy) Maxxis - RAZR (very good alrounder - not my choicethough) MAxxis - Surtrak (The one i chose) The surtak is a 2ply tire(which is fine, as you can't get too many punctures in the dunes and as such not that heavy. it hooks up like mad. only neagtive thing - it nly comes in 22x11x9 not smaller, and std shee is acyuall 20x10x9..but for this you can reduce front sprocket to 13tooth and you'll be sorted. i am still tunning a 14 tooth, gears longer better top speed and it works for me.. One direction sand and the other mud/gravel if you want i can post a close up.. Quote
ellison445 Posted July 6, 2005 Report Posted July 6, 2005 Realtors or a set of fast trekkers but run them backwards Quote
racingatvs Posted July 6, 2005 Report Posted July 6, 2005 Stock tires. If you look back at previous races some of the racers on 4 strokes bolted on stock tires. Maybe not the best choice but they are light. Quote

rjvoight Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 If you have stock yfz or raptor tires you would be ok, but the stock banshee tires blow. The magazines give good reviews on the stock tires for both the other bikes and the raptor tires in particular for sand. just my 2 cents. RJV Quote
