banshler Posted June 22, 2005 Report Posted June 22, 2005 i'm running Br8es(recomended) and i find its running hot...i don't really have any mods (check bellow), what are you guys running and whould it be a good idea to run the 9s? Quote
Big Blue Posted June 22, 2005 Report Posted June 22, 2005 I run b8's I dont think your plugs will make your bike run hot, is your jetting ok? Quote
chris642 Posted June 22, 2005 Report Posted June 22, 2005 i run br8es and i have way more mods than you, i do find that it will start to get hot after a while. i mean riding the thing all day without a break, so im not worried. Maybe invest in a cool head and engine ice if you have cooling problems Quote
sredish Posted June 22, 2005 Report Posted June 22, 2005 There is NO reason to change the heat range of the plugs... UNLESS your JETTING tells you so. With that, there is typically no need to change the heat range with the typical mods. So, stick with the 8's. As was said, plugs will NOT make your machine run hot. Are you saying that it's spewing some and just getting hot overall? That is jetting, or water pump failing, or clog in the rad, but not your plugs. Stick with the 8's and find the real solution to your problem. Just for FYI, if it's running hot and you were to put some 9's in there, it wouldn't change a thing anyway. Quote
SANDSTAR Posted June 22, 2005 Report Posted June 22, 2005 ^^He is speaking fact. Don't mess with nines unless you have an understood reason to. If you are running hot, try watter wetter or engine ice. Works for me. How exactly do you know it's running hot? Quote
banshler Posted June 22, 2005 Author Report Posted June 22, 2005 i guess i find its running hotter cus i just put pipes and its the first week with them on, my jetting fine, no bogs and the plugs are a nice chocolate, but pipes would bring the temp up right? Quote
banshler Posted June 22, 2005 Author Report Posted June 22, 2005 its something my buddy said cus he runs 9s in his YZ and he thaught thats what i should be running, thats y i asked you guys, THX! Quote
dbkid13 Posted June 23, 2005 Report Posted June 23, 2005 (edited) Do you really need to run BR8ES's or can you run B8ES's. I know that the r stands for resistor and that some new dirtbikes need to run them so they dont screw up the electronics or something. Just wondering what you thought because my local hardware store carries the B8es's but not the Br8es's and they are only $1.79, which is good for plug chops and what not. TheNewGuy Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 been a while since the last post but what the hell... i ran the BR8ES's until i was done with my break in, than ran B8ES ever since, never had a problem with anything... Quote
sredish Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 The "R" has ZERO effect on how the motor runs. It's merely to eliminate any interference with electronic ignitions. Chances are, the B8ES will be fine with your ignition, but if you had an aftermarket one or something else on the bike that could be interfered with and malfunction, thats where the BR8ES comes in. Motor wise, there is ZERO difference. Quote
