racer714 Posted June 16, 2005 Report Posted June 16, 2005 Ive got a twist right now with tors removed kit that was on my bansheee when I bought it, I have the stock thumb and correct new cable to use, my question is what is involved changing/converting it back into thumb. What about adjustments? Should I go ahead and do the clutch cable while Im at it? All input would help alot. Also how much do I have to remove at a minimum to do this procedure? Quote
BenBB Posted June 16, 2005 Report Posted June 16, 2005 It's pretty straightforward, hardest part is getting the old throttle cable ends out of the carb slides and then hangin' the slides on the new cable. You won't need to pull the tank if you get the old one disconnected on both ends, tape the top of the new one to the bottom of the old one, and just pull it through (might hang on the wiring tho, you got a 50/50 chance of it workin' heh). You want to adjust the thumb lever so there's slack in the cable (like 1/8" or so play at the tip of the lever). Don't forget to sync the carbs. It's never a bad idea to change the clutch cable, although I usually hole out until it starts to fray... Quote
Shee-Male Posted June 16, 2005 Report Posted June 16, 2005 Pretty much straight forward, put on your thumb lever/box run your cable and attach it to the slides, just make sure you sinc. your slides (make sure they lift up a the exact same time). Of course you'll have to change your grips. If you cluthch seems stiff or the cable is old or has any signs of wear go ahead and replace it. I should also mention that the stock cable is differant than the cable w/o TORS, if the cable has a little ball on the end its the wrong one, it should have almost like a small sleeve slightly bigger that the cable wich hooks into the slide under a clip, when you pull yuor slides out youll seewhat I mean. To adjust the slide hight, use the fitting and jam nut on the carb top. Quote
