timing advance

Just a quick question.Im running +4 advance right now with timing plate because thats what I here alot about on here.What would happen if I went higher like +7?. Would it blow up.Or is there not much diffrence from +4.mods are

as you advance your timing you need better fuel to keep it from detonating. i've gone as high as 10 on a 7mm stroker, thats like 13 on a stock motor, but you must run race gas to do things like that. so buy some race fuel turn it to 8 and let'er go!

It also depends on compression...so someone w/10 degrees and stock compression may be able to run like 87 octane (I doubt it but...) where as, I have a shaved head .030" and eight degrees timing... it "pings" on 91 octane. but I get away w/octane boost you can gete any automotive store, fairly cheap, well cheaper than race fuel anyways, like ten bucks worth to treat ten gallons maybe...but it works for me, no more pinging...
