If you used a jaw type, it's bent. The correct tool is only like 10 to 20 bucks on ebay...you just learned a quick, hard lesson.

Contact Boonman. He has used flywheels laying around ready to be lightened and shippped out.

I'd also get his shiftstar mod while you're at it...

He's beyond reasonable, and a great all around guy to deal with.

damn..i'll double check it so i have peace of mind...i did order the correct puller that day, and for 9 bucks it was a good deal, too bad my dad had to do it his way... banghead

Kinda hard to tell an old timer the correct way...and to tell dad to foot the bill...:)

I can rembmer the jaw type in the old days and especially for cars. Today is another day...

I wouldn't even chance it If I were you.

PM boonman. He can probably spin it up on a lathe and see if it's out of whack or not. I doubt the human eye alone could see a slight warp...but your shee will feel it at 9000 to 10000 RPMS...

yeah that's true, but i'll chuck it up on a lathe tuesday and see how fast i can get it going, then slowly get the cutting bit up to the side of it and see if it "scrapes" in different spots, like if i's a constant scraping sound of just does it in one spot, that should tell me just how out of whack it is..

Might as well, cuz if its bent you don't have a lot to loose :shrugani:

Id just use an indicator..no sense putting marks in something that might be good

your gonna have to bring the indicator in from the front of the flywheel probably. Using that type of puller will bend it out towards you. making the front of it not completely flat.

just sweep it in with a test indicator, dont just cut it to see. and you need to be sure it runs concentric and balanced with the cranks taper ,basically you need to know wha t the hell your doing ,just send it out or get a new one .you probably fucked it up good and likely the face is not square to the internal taper ,itll be very prone to shearering keys and coming loose this way. :(

ahh dammit....too much money has been put into this thing as it is..i think i'll put it on just to make sure it's bent, i didn't actually pull it off with the jaw puller, i was afraid i would od damage and alked my dad into waiting for the right one...which got it off in about 20 seconds..Thanks for the replies and could it bdnt the crank if the flywheel was bent??

I hightly doubt your crank is bent...for now.

However, throwing off the balance with a bad flywheel could do that...as well as wreck the seal, etc.

Boonman can get you a used, lightened flywheel for very cheap.

I think, DON'T QUOTE ME, but...he charges like 60 bucks for a used lightened one shipped.

Again, PM him...I'm not 100% sure, he and I worked out a deal...so, ask him.

You ruin a crank/bearings/seal, you're gonna wish you spent just a bit more.

In this case, better safe than sorry most definately applies!!
