DMAN94
i did a search and have been reading about the compression on this site. i wanted some advice on this. my left side is at 100psi and the right 120psi. i dont have the numbers from when it was built so i'm not sure of a starting point. i'm thinking its time. the motor has been ported and polished with pt mids. motor is also 20 over with wisco pistons. head is stock. what do you think it may have been, and is it time. thanks for your help on this dennis
BANSHEE_JAY
i beleive stock is 120 and if your bore then you should have a little more .... i would rebuild if i could afford it!
quick-z
I just rebuild mine before rebuild I had 110 after rebuild with a .20 bore and wisco pistons Im at 148 with 22cc domes
Nighty
20 psi difference between the two cylinders is too much if you ask me. 100 psi can be "O.K" depending on your elevation and state of engine tune. But the 20 psi difference really calls for a re-ring/rebuild.
dajogejr
I belive 10 to 15% difference in the cylinders calls for a rebuild. You're due. Just checked mine...110 in each, on the nose. Gonna wait a bit longer...season's here!!
DMAN94
thats what i figured, thanks for all your import on this. rebuild will be underway. didn't want to do it now but, thats the way it goes. thanks again dennis
dajogejr
Better to rubuild it now, when it still runs then to try it when it locks up/gernades on you...that's for sure. Do yourself a favor...get the pistons first, or get it bored by a shop that sells 'em. Any good machine shop will want the pistons to match the bore to. While you've got down time, clean the carbs up...too, just to make sure they're both flowing properly, and sync 'em up good! Have fun...I'm heading to your future soon...but, I'm gonna port her at the same time!!
