CombatTalon2 Posted May 23, 2005 Author Report Posted May 23, 2005 hmm... I was considering turning mine in a bit on my 05 silverado too, I just slapped on some bfg muds 285 70 17" on there, and the tires fit fine, but I think a touch of lift would make it look better - id sacrifice for the shittier ride... anyone care to comment on this? 372532[/snapback] Do it, you will get about 1 to 1.5" with the stock torsion keys. I really have not noticed a big differance in the ride quality either. Quote
cb67rs1 Posted May 23, 2005 Report Posted May 23, 2005 i can get after market keys pretty cheap that will allow 2 to 3 inches and that would be with you adjustment bolts in the stock position. Quote
Minkia38 Posted May 23, 2005 Report Posted May 23, 2005 interesting, how do these keys work if you stay in the stock position? Will it change my ride quality? Quote

As you crank on the bolt it adds more torque, pushing the lower a-arm down and raising the front of your truck. The new keys are indexed so basically when you have your stock ones cranked down and you look at the opening where the torsion bar fits in, the aftermarket ones opening will be in that position with the bolts in stock position....make any sense? as far as ride quality, i have heard that it makes the ride bouncy but i guess that depends on how much you raise your truck. NEVER SATISFIED Posted May 23, 2005 Report Posted May 23, 2005 those after market keys ride like SHI^ .. . . since your keys only go like 1.5" up the aftermarket keys continue from there and go an extra 1" or so.. this puts your fronht end cv axles, the upper ball joints, and on the 1/2 tons, the lower ball joints in a un wanted position giving more wear faster. most after market keys are used for lift kit combos, but you can use for un lifted but like i said puts lots of wear.. and also does ride like crap. your loosing the travel originally created by the manufacture for that "good ride". its like going from 4" of travel to 1".i dont recomend to anyone who buys bigger tires from me and wants to raise it by that measure.. but hell if its what the customer wants then i shall put it on there.
