what air box? lid/no lid clamp on filters?

if stock with a lid I woud say 270-280 mains, stock needle/pilot, I ran similar setup at 5500 feet, with 270 mains and back to 300 at sea-level...

also what oil/and ratio are you running?

280s probably.  start there.  pilot could be stockers or maybe 27.5.  I'm not real familiar with the TR6 pipes.

So far everything is stock. I plan on using diff air intake setup when I get the cubs and many other mods. Just waiting on the money :headbang: As for the oil mix I am new to two strokes so I just bought some Super Technaplate ( I think) and I run it 32/1. If there is a better ratio please let me know. I would ask my friends but they all run 450's :shootself:.

Like I said this is my first two stroke. Dont know much about them. I like the pull of the powerband and the sound! I might try the 40/1 next time I mix some fuel. All I have been running is 91 octane, but i can get up to 115 purple race gas but not sure if it will hurt the motor.

Hurt it? No...but on a stock motor you'd be wasting your money.

once you start bumping up the compression and advancing the timing, then race gas is the ticket...

Unless you like the smell of burnt race gas...gives me a woody!!

I'd say about 280 or so should be right. Maybe even 270 with your elevation and a stock air filter/box setup.

Welcome to the two stroke world...go whip up on some four strokes soon...:)

Like dajoctrtdrrdyrd  said... 91 is fine unless the compression has been bumped up to a pressure that would need a higher octane, which you'd probably know about if that was the case.

Race gas is a necessary evil, not a luxury. When you start modding to a certain extent, it becomes necessary. It's a total waste if it's not necessary, and expensive also at $6/gallon or more.

I am getting my head milled .030 so my compression will increase but I will have to test it to see. I can get octanes 91, 104, 108, 110, 112, 115. I live in the same town as a gas plant and I have really cool friends who work there  I might try the 104 after the head mod and get rid of the air box lid.

Yeah...I know...the handle is odd, but...I use it for several forums. Combo of first, middle and last name, add the Jr....

:)

Big Gund consider yourself lucky. I live outside of motown myself, and race cars, real race cars..(high compression, big bore V8's and such) are abundant...race gas is plentiful.

However, we go up north to ride...and I hate having to take it with me. Therefore....stock pump gas for me!!

:clap::cheers:

Im about 2 hrs from the little sahara and I live near the only dry river in texas you can ride on. I dont have to travel far :headbang: I drag race a monte carlo so I can buy race gas at the track if my friends cant come up with any!
