Polaris_Power Posted May 9, 2005 Report Posted May 9, 2005 Hey guys, i just bought a banshee, and i have seen people running clear clutch covers, so you can see the oil and all. I was wondering where you can get them and how much. thanks Quote
jeepman380 Posted May 10, 2005 Report Posted May 10, 2005 Mine should be here in like 2 days. I'll tell you how they look...plus I also got the lock-up. Quote
Polaris_Power Posted May 10, 2005 Author Report Posted May 10, 2005 how do you install them, do you got to but your side case up?? Quote
jeepman380 Posted May 11, 2005 Report Posted May 11, 2005 You have to send your clutch cover off and have them mod it. Then it just bolts right up. Quote
sandman121383 Posted May 11, 2005 Report Posted May 11, 2005 hey jeepman whatd they charge ya? if u don't min me askin Quote
jeepman380 Posted May 12, 2005 Report Posted May 12, 2005 (edited) I got the lock up and the clutch cover modded and polished and some other parts(water pump gear, bearing, seal, clip, washer, bolts) all for $404. The lock out and clutch cover mod is $320. Polished is like $49 extra. Just getting the clutch cover modded is $200 I think. I'll post a pic of mine here soon when I get the chance. Guest dnhyoung1987 Posted May 12, 2005 Report Posted May 12, 2005 is the lockup only for bikes that are built for drag racing or can the dune rider install one, what are the advantages of one?? Quote
bbluebanshee Posted May 14, 2005 Report Posted May 14, 2005 Lockouts are generally a win, win situation. They create much better hookup. It basically turns your basket clutch into a centrifugal clutch. The harder the engine revs, the more the clutch grabs. Clutches last a lot longer...like 3 to 4 times longer. The only draw back I have heard from using these, is under power, the clutch is much harder to pull in. a lot of people i have seen, run only three springs to help alleviate this problem. Most people that have installed them, ould not go back to a stock clutch for any reason. Quote
kw04 Posted May 15, 2005 Report Posted May 15, 2005 so you can use the lock up for all types of riding Quote
NYUK Posted May 15, 2005 Report Posted May 15, 2005 YES , MX DUNE DRAG, PM ME I CAN GET YOU A GOOD PRICE ON ONE. Quote
kw04 Posted May 15, 2005 Report Posted May 15, 2005 do you think the clear cover would hold up in the trails?? also would the lockout be good for the trails ?? Quote
NYUK Posted May 16, 2005 Report Posted May 16, 2005 a lock up clutch is only needed if you are having problems with clutch slippage. heavy springs and a heavy duty clutch are fine up to 65 70 hp. Quote
04TeamYamahaShee Posted June 2, 2005 Report Posted June 2, 2005 Little confused here.... Can I buy one of the lexan covers and put it on my otherwise stock 'Shee, or do I have to get one of the clutch cover modifications listed on the site to have the cover? Quote
jeepman380 Posted June 4, 2005 Report Posted June 4, 2005 You have to send your clutch cover to get modded to accept the clear cover. Quote
