:wacko: .. . ahhh chit is waht came to mind as i was tightening one of the 4 reed cage bolts on my intake... well i wasnt hammering down on the allen head bolt and it just stripped.. anyone done this and tried to rethread to a bigger size or know how to fix it... ?

 

its the jug that stripped out.. the bolt is fine.. damn alum jug

id have to rethread to a larger diameter bolt wont i... i was thinkin i could use all thread since only half of the threads are shot and once i get past the part that stripped its fine and the bolt grabs... this happen to you before there monk ay boy..

Heli-coil, go to your local automotive store Murrays, pepboys. And get a heli coil kit don't oversize it do it right. bring the bolt to get the right kit. very simple to install.

All I did was clean up the treads for the stock size. I did not use a larger bolt. I did use longer bolts.

 

As long as it is not boogered up deep into the intake, you will be OK.

yup, same thing happend to me on 2 of them. i just bought a tap with an identical pattern and retapped it, no new bolt needed. if you want i can check what size it is if its printed on there. i would just send it to you, but i wouldnt be suprised if it happened again.

not fixed yet.... havent gone down to napa.. damn place closes right when i get there... damn mofos.. one of these days i'll catch em while they are locking the doors... then WHAMMO! im going to fling it open adn demand some tools... :headbang:

 

probably just go get a longer bolt...
