Banshee~ Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 Your pilot jet might be rich. Heres a good rule of thumb- bogging=rich, cutting out=lean. Heres a good jetting page CLICK Quote

The mains could affect the mid, but just depends on some things. Like I said, I'd go run a WOT plug check to make sure your jetted accurately on the main. If you were to keep messing with the needle, then later on have to change the main, it'll affect your prev. needle setting. So, always work from the main, then to the pilot and then fine tune the needle in. If you don't know what mains are in there, you need to open her up and find out. Once we know the mains and how your plugs look at WOT, then we can make a more educated decision on what you need to do with the needle. Scott Quote
blazinlow Posted April 24, 2005 Author Report Posted April 24, 2005 thanks scott i put up another post before i seen your reply sorry i tried to move the needle the other way and it got worse. i did a plug chop and the plugs look good burning good. at full throttle this thing screams the only prob i have is runnin thru the woods it boggs alot till the power band kicks in. any suggestions ??????????? sredish Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 I may not be following along very fast or something, but did you say that you richened the needle all the way? And by that, I mean putting the clip all the way to the bottom, lifting the needle up? If not, try that. Quote
blazinlow Posted April 29, 2005 Author Report Posted April 29, 2005 i moved the needle up and down bike runs ok with the clip at the top of the needle. called sunco and they have explained that my needle is too rich with too agressive of a taper???? so i bought the needles they told me to get and shazazz. but still feels like its a lil rich on the pilot that is a 52 they recomended that i put a 48 so im gonna try what they say they are the gods of these carbs Quote
wesw Posted April 29, 2005 Report Posted April 29, 2005 does your bike start with out the choke, if so your pilots are way to large. your basically a stock bike. i would call sudco tell them you have basically a stock bike with pipes, reeds adn filter. let them suggest some pilots, needles, mains. if your on the first clip on the needle your way too rich. you should try to get it in the middle hopefully. my guess way smaller pilot, different needle with not some much fuel in it. and probably a 145main the time you get it right. your bike is really rich finda dyno with a sniffer is the best way to tell what you have going on Quote
