trail rider Posted April 10, 2005 Report Posted April 10, 2005 I'm in the market for some new rear tires and im kinda interested in the maxxis sur tracs. Are these good tires for trails, hill climbs, and dirt drags? How well does the tread hold up and how do they perform when you reverse em'? Do these things catch traction very quicky cause right now I'm geared lower than stock and the bandits that I use spin alot. I am also lookin at the kenda klaws and knarly's. All three of these tires are about the same price at RM atv, I think around $40 -$45. I have two sets of rims that I have tires on right now and need replacing, bandits and bald holeshots- I smell some burnouts comin pretty soon . Would the sur trac's be a good secondary tire for muddy conditions and use the klaws or knarly's for a primary tire? Quote
FadedDreams Posted April 11, 2005 Report Posted April 11, 2005 My brother has them on his Mojave and they have held up really good for the past 3 or 4 years hes had them.Only time hes had trouble is when the bottom gets hung up on something. They are a really heavy tire, but that shouldn't really effect anything since a shee has alot more power than the mojave does.As far as when you reverse them,we tried them in snow.I felt it did help, but my brother didn't,so take as you want.Maybe other people have tried them in sand . cudaz101 Posted April 11, 2005 Report Posted April 11, 2005 I run them...They seem to hook up fine. BUT I have not tried anything else yet since they came with the bike pretty much new. I thought they did pretty good in the snow turned around. It just depends on what kind of snow surface it is. Pretty much worthless in any more than a foot of snow. Brad Quote
trail rider Posted April 11, 2005 Author Report Posted April 11, 2005 what about on hard pack? I have this dirt drag track that I made, two 300 ft strips that I tilled up with a tiller. Right now, since it aint rained for a while, the dirt is pretty hard packed. I have been using my bald holeshots that I spin up to 3rd gear with and there is some pretty big ruts and it is really hard packed. would the sur trak's just spin on top the hard pack or would they dig in?
