Needle clip position?

Recommended Posts

Could anyone recommend the correct needle clip position for my 03 shee w/PC pipes and silencers,reeds,260 mains and 25 pilot? Also I have a 30 pilot but she runs fine - would the 30 improve my low end??

Thanks for any help!

what is the elevation? I would say start from the 3 clip from the bottom if your around 5000 ft.

You need to play with the needle position. YOu may find one clip position to be much more responsive than on someone elses. They are not all the same. Most people try to stay stock but a lot of people find there is still a lot of tuning that can be done.

Thanks - What do you think about the 30 pilot vs. the stock 25 --- Also after reading alot of guys settings I'm thinking about bumping up my mains from a 260 to a 280 maybe a 300 if I get rid of the lid ---- What do you think???

Yeah your probably right. I bought it used w/the PC pipes & reeds and it use to bog off the line and miss when I was on the pipe. I found the jets were stock and the air scews were out 2 + turns out. I changed main to the 260 and went 1.5 turns out and it runs real good ------ I want more out of it!!!!!

I have the same pipes, and tried different clip positions, but mine definately runs best in the middle. As for the pilots, if it does'nt bog or stall taking off from a dead stop, and your airscrews are 1.5 turns out, you'll be ok, a 27.5 would work, but might be too rich in the summer time.
