BRIAN BANSHEE Posted March 25, 2005 Report Posted March 25, 2005 (edited) the piston on the right side apperaed to be fine, but the piston on the left had a big piece missing out of it, and a piece of the ring was missing too, so why does my head look like THIS!!! Bansheeman1121 Posted March 25, 2005 Report Posted March 25, 2005 When she blows, some junk may get in beewteen the piston in the head cuaseing it to pit it up, that can be easily fixed with some sand paper, or a noss cool head, BTW ive gone threw lots of stock heads and domes Quote
boonman Posted March 25, 2005 Report Posted March 25, 2005 You may have had a previous failure on the right side, explaining the pounding on the head. If the piston on that side loks fine, I'd say that was the case. But, if the piston dome on the right side matches the head, it looks like you had a lower bearing failure. Quote
. Posted March 25, 2005 Report Posted March 25, 2005 which dome is which compared to piston that went bad? The bad piston match the bad dome? Quote

BRIAN BANSHEE Posted March 26, 2005 Author Report Posted March 26, 2005 (edited) the bad piston was with the good dome. Thats what i don't understand, how did that dome get fuc*ed up? Edited March 27, 2005 by BRIAN BANSHEE Quote
badshee98 Posted March 26, 2005 Report Posted March 26, 2005 (edited) the damage to the dome was caused by either the chunk of missing piston and/or the missing piece(s) of ring. doesn't take long for even a small piece of foreign material in the combustion chamber to tear some shit up. if you pull your pipe on that side, you might be able to find some of your missing pieces. or it might have all blown out the silencer.. when time comes to fix it, split the cases to make sure you don't have any more broken pieces in the bottom of your case. otherwise, it will get sucked back up and do this all over again. and above all else, you need to figure out why this happened in the first place to try and avoid a repeat performance. boonman Posted March 29, 2005 Report Posted March 29, 2005 Badshee, the problem here is that the bad piston in this particular incidence was on the "good" side of the head. But, from the pics you can see that the right side of the head, had some previous pounding, as evidenced by the dark spots, where carbon has built up a little since the damage happened. Quote
jinx44 Posted March 29, 2005 Report Posted March 29, 2005 Take a magnet and run it along the squish band (the part that is pecked up) on the head. Chances are you will find a few spots where it wants to stick to the head. If so, you have a bad crank bearing and pieces of the steel bearing will embed into the head. Quote
