BRIAN BANSHEE Posted March 25, 2005 Report Posted March 25, 2005 I took off my exhaust yesterday so i could paint it, and i looked up throuigh the hole and heres what i seen. So i pooped the head off and it's a wonder that the damn thing was running at all. The sleeves are warped scorned notched, and the ring is missing a peice and the piston has a big chip missing out of it, and on the other side where the sleeves were preety good, the head looked like somebody fired a shotgun at it. It was all full of pits and craters, and therre was alot of little bits of metal hanging off of it. Is it possible for the piece of the piston and the piece of the ring to get over to the other piston? i was also wondering what type of bore that im probally going to need? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v649/bri...ee/000_0380.jpg Quote
locogato11283 Posted March 25, 2005 Report Posted March 25, 2005 you need to pull your cylinders pff and take a look at them. theres prolly more breakage in there than youre seeing. bore is gonna depend on how fucked up your cylinders are. do you have a local shop that can do the work for you? need to let them look at it and decide what size youll need to go to. sounds to me like you were jetted a little lean. also is this stuff stock? my bros stock 04 shit all broke apart kinda like you are describing. BRIAN BANSHEE Posted March 25, 2005 Author Report Posted March 25, 2005 the motor is completly stock and yes i do have a shop that can do it for me but i dont want to have to bore to much. I'm hoping for only .20 over, but theres no way to tell yet Quote
BRIAN BANSHEE Posted March 25, 2005 Author Report Posted March 25, 2005 i dont undeerstand why the head on one side would have all these pits in it but that pistons and rings seem fine but the other piston is missing a chunk and the sleeve is all warped but the head is fine on that side? Quote

BRIAN BANSHEE Posted March 25, 2005 Author Report Posted March 25, 2005 no i checked that like 4 times to see if i was wrong, later on i'll post the pics cause i don't have my camera right now. SOOOOOOOOOO WIERD!!!!!!!! Quote
. Posted March 25, 2005 Report Posted March 25, 2005 just caught this post, I guess its possible that a piece of the rings or something coulda worked its way across to the other side, but not that likely. It had to though if thats the first time the engine opened up. Either that or at some point stuff got sucked in through the intake, which would be more likely. What happened to your motor is that the piston had some play in the cylinder, and it caught a ring on the exhaust port. Exactly what happened to mine. Quote
BRIAN BANSHEE Posted March 26, 2005 Author Report Posted March 26, 2005 there probally was some play because the sleeve is not perfectly round anymore, it will definatly need to be bored probally .20 over or more , but i dont' want to do n e more then that. Quote
. Posted March 26, 2005 Report Posted March 26, 2005 mine had to go 30 over, I had some nice scoring though Quote
