bigboybanshee Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 You need a punch...If you don't have a punch use a long screwdriver to beat on and beat it out that way. I just went through the same deal a couple weeks ago...hope your swingarm bearings don't look like mine did!! Quote
Mr.350 Posted March 8, 2005 Author Report Posted March 8, 2005 tryed something sorda like that with a air chisel gun it didnt even budge then. Quote

bigboybanshee Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 Maybe try a sledgehammer and a punch? Have you tried spraying any kind of lube on it? Have you unbolted the shock and it's linkage? Quote
Mr.350 Posted March 9, 2005 Author Report Posted March 9, 2005 yea have tryed the sledge and yea everthing is unbolted (except that damn pivot bolt) the end of it has got a little damaged so i am probably gonna just replace everything there when i get the damn thing out. appreciate the help man thanks. bansheekid409 Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 tip the bike upside down so your hammering down on it. then get a punch of some sort. get the heavest hammer you can find. make one if you have to. and then have you "buddy" hold the punch while you hammer it. kinda like on denis the menis when they were building the tree house. and hope you dont hit is hand Quote
Holyman Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 You need to hammer it with a heavy hammer until it hits the frame and then spray it with oil. Then hammer the bolt bck in to the regular position. repeat this until the bolt will come out easily. You will need a new bolt but that's the way it goes. Make sure you drill the swinger for a grease fitting so you don't have to mess with it again. Do a search, I did a posting with directions on how to drill for a grease zirk. Quote
Mr.350 Posted March 9, 2005 Author Report Posted March 9, 2005 I've done everything except tilting the bike on its side. Would it be safe to cut the bolt on both ends where I can spread the frame to slide it out?? I have soaked it overnight still will not budge, moved about 1/8th of an inch. Thats using a 5 lb sledge hammer. Thanks for the help. Quote
Holyman Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 I wouldn't cut the ends off. If you got it to move 1/8 of an inch then you are doing something right. Lean it over to the side and wail on it. Whatever you do, you will need to get the bolt out. Quote
Mr.350 Posted March 9, 2005 Author Report Posted March 9, 2005 drill bit uhh . never thought of that i think i will try that for sure. and thanks for the help. Quote
Mr.350 Posted March 9, 2005 Author Report Posted March 9, 2005 and by the way forgot to mention i do have a +6 swingarm that i would like to put on it but would that be to much for a little trail riding but ill be mainly riding dunes and in flat fields. what are your guys suggestions. THanks Quote

Thanks for the help. 336240[/snapback] thats exactly how i did it. none of this b/s'in around with a hammer. got out my angle grinder with a 5" cutting wheel and whammo! that thing was offa there i like 30 seconds. just becareful not to cut into the frame any. youre gonna have to rplace the bolt anways, so why not take the fast route out? amv3704 Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 Mine did the same thing.. I took a Recorcating saw and cut the bolt on each end of the swingarm.. The bearings were seized up.. Add a gease zert to it before you put it all back together.. Mike Quote
