hey guys, need some help with some mods. my shee has fmf fattys w power core 2's, boost bottle, k&n filter. my jetting is perfect right now. but im going to add a few things was wondering if you guys could help. im adding a noss head that i got from dave noss(which is a hell of a nice guy) but you all know that. w/ 19cc domes. a ricky stator timing plate +4 degrees, cam 2 fuel (104-110)octane.and taking off the air box lid, i run bel ray hc1 @ 40:1,and im in stalling some v force 2's. everything else on here is stock, carbs , porting ect. was wondering if there is a way to just determine what is a good starting point for the jetting on the carbs. im trying to get this ready for lil sahara, my buddies all have souped up z-400's and are talking alot of bull****. any other advice would be greaty appreciated. hope this makes a difference trying to get her to around 50 hp or more. im 1200 ft above sea level. thanks for all the advice and you guys are pretty cool on here wish i would of bought a shee sooner. thanks :notworthy:

1 or maybe 2 main sizes since you are adding better air flow. shouldnt need anymore than that. go up 2 sizes and check your plugs. if its rich go back down one size and i would say you would have it.

Run the same plugs. I might suggest going up 3 sizes depending where your at now for removing the lid and timing advance. V-force are nice but they aren't going to add a huge amount of power, mostly make the power and throttle responce snappier and more responsive. If it runs good now (starts, idle, throttle response is good) on your pilots you should be able to keep the same pilots and just adjust the air screws a little if needed, may need to turn the screws in 1/2 or 1 turn to richen the idle back up, might lean it out a hair when you take the lid off. Adjust needle to what setting feels the best.

As far as highly modded z-400s, you have to sink a fortune in them to get 45 hp. Figure the stock banshee starts with 36hp and the stock Z-400 is about 30. If you port your banshee you should be able to easily hit 50 hp, I think it would be tough to get much over 45-47 on stock ports.

o.k i removed my carbs they are all stock except for they have 260 mains. was thinking that was a little lean so i think i try three sizes larger to start out for the main. better to run rich than lean right.hey guys thanks for the info.

o.k i got my head on running 165psi both cylinders, mixing c12(112octane) with 91 50/50 i installed v-force 3 reed cages, rejetted carbs with 300 main and 27.5 pilot stock clip for needle. no air box lid, advanced timing 4 degrees. switched coil wires around (oranged positive and black neg. after i got it together it took 3 kick and she came to life, i done the 10 min. idle and checked the plug it was barely tan and only on one side. i adjusted the air screw cause there was a little bog, leaned it about 1 3/4 out. this thing is really snappy no hesitation at alll. buttttt for all the parts i put on it, it just doesn't seem like it made alot of difference. very small change .it revs out really fast. on the top end it sounds like shes running 12000 rpms. i pulled the plugs after a good hour ride they are tan but only at the tip of the plug and only on one side any clues? i did the choke test and when i pulled it out to the first notch it bogged down so i think im in the ball park, there is a very split sec of bog in the 1/2 to 3/4 but then it just takes off. i mean very split sec. this is what i have on top off the other mods above any clues to what i might need to change. i thought i would just be amazed but im disappointed really. any help would be a great help. il do a plug chop on the top end as soon as my new clutch gets here. i think it might be slipping. thanks

im not sure what you were expecting ,but you need to remember that with stock porting and stock carbs it will have powerband that comes on in a rush and is lazy and low in torque on the bottom rpm . stock porting just plain sucks ,youll be much happier if you get a decent porter to let that twin breath and make much better use of your current setup.my vorce mostly made a better bottom to mid power increase and iv been hearing the delta 3's arent as good  your jetting may still be slightly off and your missing out on some power

o.k i've been reading up on the plug heat ranges i think mine is to hot with a b8es the whole ground strap is colored and went down the threads part way. il try a b7es and see what happens. any clues to why the porcelain is only turning tan on one side and only at the ground strap end. i only ran this plug for a hour. what do you think on the jetting i was thinking on moveing the needle down one clip. its just a pain in the ass with the tors on there.im running +4 degrees timing is that too much? 112 and 91 octane 50/50 thanks its running really well but i think im missing something somewhere it should have more power maybe i just have it dyno'd whats your thoughts. :bolt:
