. Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 I just got a computer that came with a mount for Fat bars such as Pro-Taper, and wanted to get some nice bars anyway. I'm going to be running a 2" riser to clear my IMS tank and wanted to know what type of bend I should get that is going to help me to pull up over obstacles and give me good control all around. I'm thinking a low bend because of the riser, but all opinions are greatly appreciated. Just dont want to get the wrong bar for my riding (woods, tight rocky hillclimbs, coal, etc etc) Those who run the Pro-Tapers, all I really hear people say is that they like them alot and such. What do you guys actually like about them compared to other bars Quote

Meat Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 I use Pro-Taper but I don't know what bend they are they're purty darn flat. What do you guys actually like about them compared to other bars They look cooler Ahh and I guess they're supposed to be stronger than regular ol' handlebars and I'd beleive it, with the larger diameter and all. I like how flat they are, there's no big bend in em like reg bars have, just a slight bend. I guess that adds to the strongness claim. I think they claim to reduce handlebar vibrations better, but who can tell. Both these bars are Pro-Tapers. The Banshee is using a +1 stem, plus a one inch spacer, they're up really really high and I like um like that. Quote
. Posted March 2, 2005 Author Report Posted March 2, 2005 holy crap those bars sit up high meat. I guess I wont notice it as much when I have the IMS tank on. You've got the same exact setup I'm starting to hook up. How you like the computer? What have you found it good for? Gas mileage etc etc? Thats the main thing I want it for, to know how long I can go on my IMS tank down at Hatfield-McCoy Quote
. Posted March 2, 2005 Author Report Posted March 2, 2005 (edited) i got pro taper bars ill sell ya. aluminum and perfectyl straight. let me know 331815 got any pics? Post here or send to What ya lookin to get for them? They are the fat bar style right? What bend are they? Edited March 3, 2005 by . Quote
Cotton eyed Joe Posted March 3, 2005 Report Posted March 3, 2005 I use the Tag 2 CR-LO bend with my adapter. They are still lower than the stock ape hangers, and wider by around 3-4 inches it seems. But for me, them being wider gives me better leverage and over all control and feel as far as I'm concerned. Quote
. Posted March 3, 2005 Author Report Posted March 3, 2005 (edited) I'm now thoroughly frustrated. well, hopefully this trail tech bar clamp has enough rise that its going to clear my IMS tank. Go and take a look at my rox risers, and they have 8 little allen bolts to tighten your bars down. Guess I'm not slapping the trail tech clamp on top of it. What a bunch of retards to make the bolt sequence different than a stock setup. I'm gonna email them and tell them they're retards too..... :Edit: Update on this....hopefully it'll work, I installed the trail tech bar mount (its really wide and hits a little bit at full lock on each side. I'm gonna install some washers inbetween the steering stem and the frame and hopefully it'll bring it out enough. Guess I'm gonna go with the Mid Bend or low bend, not sure yet. I put the renthals in there and kinda tried to size it up. They'll be close, but I think with the washers added they'll clear as well. On a side note......any one want some 2" rox risers? Meat Posted March 4, 2005 Report Posted March 4, 2005 How you like the computer? What have you found it good for? The computer is fun, I havent had any problems with mine except that I lost the little magnet that you epoxy to the brake rotor. I bought a rotor bolt with the built in magnet and now I don't have to worry bout losing the magnet anymore. One thing that I liked was the "average speed" function. I would go from spot A to spot B and get my average speed, then I'd race through the same trails again and again trying to get a higher average speed. There's a pile of different functions it performs. Yep Iv been there. My problem was with my Lonestar stem. The LSR stem uses a different handlebar bolt spacing than the stock steering stem. So I go and buy a fancy high dollar trail tech bar clamp\speedo holder\headlight setup only to find out that I can bolt it onto my LSR stem. Why Lonestar would sell a replacement Banshee steering stem with a different handlebar bolt pattern beats the hell outta me. I had to rig mine up with a set of 1 inch spacer that raised my bars even higher. At first I wasnt thrilled about the bars being up so damn high, but now I can dig it. The tall bar setup is nice when your standing up on the pegs and they're nice when your cruising down the smooth haul roads. My 250r uses a stock height stem and I feel like im hunched over the bars when im riding it. Quote
. Posted March 6, 2005 Author Report Posted March 6, 2005 hey meat, is that a separate light bracket you have on there or part of the trail tech mount? Was lookin to get those lights as well eventually. Oh yeah, the bars you have on the shee are a mid bend, and the ones on the 250r are a low bend, if you look at the pics you can tell the difference. Got some washers for the stem clamp up top and now the mount clears my tank. It should clear for the bars too.....now just gotta get some. Quote
