PUSH THE THROTTLE Posted February 24, 2005 Report Posted February 24, 2005 I'm about ready to put my engine back together, as soon as my parts come in. Any tips on putting the seals in correctly? What kind of grease do you recommend? Any and all help is appreciated, I don't want a costly screw up. Quote
Holyman Posted February 24, 2005 Report Posted February 24, 2005 I'd probably use whatever oil I was going to run. So tranny seals would get a good coat of tranny oil and crank seals a good coat of premix oil. Quote
RBD Posted February 24, 2005 Report Posted February 24, 2005 PUSH THE THROTTLE, Use a product called Sil-Glyde, you can get this at most auto parts stores (NAPA # 765-1351). Just put a few small dabs of this grease between the two lips of the seals. On the ignition side, the writing on the outer rim of the seal faces out. On the primary side, the castle shaped side of the seal goes next the bearing. Ron Quote
