holyman, that was awfully nice of you to take your motor off of your shee and tear it down just for a good pic to help someone out! :jesterlaugh: you rock man!! the HQ always comes thru for those in need of assistance. :headbang:

trailrider, while you have it apart, check out the rubber o-ring seal where the clutch cover fits over the coolant pipe leading to the head. sometimes it'll leak there also if the seal is damaged. B)

those are it?   Dang, if it were a snake it would have bit me in the face  :D  Those hoses on mine are clear. I took them apart on the tee handle thing and blew through them. I just thought that those hoses had to do with coolant cause once of those hoses goes to the overflow bottle.

That right there is why you are getting coolant in the engine. The moron hooked the overflow into the case vent and since the Banshe always spits out some coolant, it was going directly into the engine. This would also explain why there is pressure in the case when the banshee "warms up". The coolant in the radiator is trying to expand and go into the coolant bottle but since it is connected to the case, it just builds up pressure.

The way the coolant bottle is supposed to work is the little overflow tube from the radiator by the radiator cap is supposed to go into the BOTTOM hose barb on the coolant bottle. The TOP hose barb on the bottle has a hose that runs out on top of the right hand exhaust pipe. So basically the TOP hose barb is not connected to anything, it's made to have the coolant run onto the ground if the bottle gets too full. The case vent hose just runs up as high as you can get it so it will not get water in it if you go thru some water.

Alot of guys move the coolant bottle {like I did} to eliminate the spitting up problem. Other guys remove the bottle all together. I know I have pics posted of how and where I put my coolant bottle. I'll try to find them if you really want to know.

I found the problem! The clutch side cover gasket was ripped around the round metal tube where the coolant flows.

Thats not your problem bro. A torn gasket, even around that tube, is not the

source of your coolant leak. Either the o-ring seal on that tube is bad or the

waterpump seal is bad. Replace both unless the o-ring was just missing.

thanks holyman :notworthy: you just solved my problem. The vent hose that comes from the water pump area IS hooked up to a tee handle, along with the hoses going to the raidaiter overflow. So its been pumping coolant into the case the whole time :shootself: . I checked the oil seal and its still in good condition but it needs another o-ring. Damn theres no tellin what else this guy did to this shee. I'm glad I only gave $2500 for it. Its a really good deal and I'll put all the mods that on it in my sig later.

Oh and holyman, did you really take your engine out just to take that picture???

Yeah, he's crazy and is a bum.....someone goes and asks a question like you did and he'll rip his 4wheeler apart to take the picture, and then put it back together afterward.....I think he just likes taking stuff apart actually.

You shoulda saw what he did when someone asked about a crank pin......

This used to have a crank pin

i got all the air vents right now....i hope. the one in the back of the tranny is run down through the gap in the swing arm along with the one running from the top of the coolant bottle. they had the two lines running from the coolant bottle in the back; the one on the bottom to the T-section, and the one on the top of the coolant bottle to the top of the radiator. it was all backwards. :jesterlaugh:
