Yea you do need to check your compression. 17cc domes and 5k elevation in theory should be around 150psi with a standard bore. Though you have a larger bore which will further increase compression. So if your compression is close to 160 I would run 50/50 race/pump gas mix. Those are wires for your TOR's too. Make sure the wires to the black box above the left exhaust just behind the radiator is unplugged also. Don't ride it or do anything till u check that compression and get back to us. If it's above 160 get some race gas in there.

i just checked and the black box behind the radiator above the left pipe is still plugged in.so just unplug it?what is the black box? and should i just cut the two tors conectors and tape them up and do the same to the black box plug?

once again thanks for all the help and suggestions.

That is the brain module for the TORS system.  Just unplug it.  Leave the connectors on, or cut them off.  Just make sure they aren't connected...

do you think that has something to do with me not getting any spark?

thank you

Pull out the fuel petcock and cut off the screens. Then run a cheap fuel filter before the carbs. What elev. did the bike come from? I'm asking because 5k where you are now is prety high. if the guy has it jetted for lower elev. it will be rich where you are at. May be running super rich for a second, then starving out from plugged filters.

where i live is around 500 feet higher in elevation and i dont think he had a chance to jet.he just got it out of the shop then he went to jail and needed money for bills and laywers so he turned around and sold it quick and if i can get it running right all be happy and concider it a good deal for 2500 dollars with extra set of front drag shocks i think there marvin shaw and a full set of new paddle tires and rims front and back, plus he delivered it to me from 130 miles away.and there are more parts i still need to pick up.are there any ruff estimates on what jets i should be running.ive never jetted a carb but if i have some directions and some help from my dad i can usally get the job done. i think i saw some info on jetting here on this site is it pretty much the same directions on my 34mm miunki carbs as the stock carbs?

thanks for all the help

well i finally got my hands on a compression tester and i think im going to be sick now.first i checked the right side it would not even register on the gauge,.checked the left and it has 120 pounds of compression.before i did the compression test i took the carbs of to clean them but they were pretty clean already. when i put the carbs back on i noitced the right carbs thorttle valve had a piece of the plastic missing from the bottom,i think thats what it is called ,plastic thing that goes up and down when you pull on the throttle?man its one thing after another.where do i go from here?

ps i got spark now

thanks for all the help

when you do a compression test, make sure you hold the throttle wide open.

the carb slides shouldn't be made of plastic, there usually chromed alloy and if it's missing that's why your running fat.

double check compression, 0 psi tells me you have a hole in your piston.

hole in the piston,is this why it would only start when pulled?i didnt think it would run on only 1 piston.so i guess ill dig into the motor this week and post some pictures of what happened inside the motor,if i can the last time i tryed to post pictures it wouldnt let me.the pictures were small enough i even took down my other pictures for more space.or if someone can post them for me that would be cool.anything i need to looik for or any hints tricks or tips about this job?

thanks for all the help

i tore it down today,im not sure how to tell what a good piston looks like but i know the right side is messed up.on one section of the piston the rings are gone melted or grinded down? how do i take off the pistons?the head is still on i cant get it seperated from the cylinders any tips?.how do i tell if the bottom end is ok?if i posted some picture could you tell me if its ported and polished?do i need to flush the engine out to get rid of any metal shaving?if so how do i do it?it says 68.5 on the piston so i guess its not a 420 but 400ccs does this sound right?i have alot of questions so please bear with me its my first time in a motor this deep.any help would be welcomed.

man i just want to ride is that so wrong?

thanks for all youre help

update on my banshee problems.well i took my jugs and head to k and t performnce to have them bore out my sleeves.while looking at my stuff and measuring a few things, found out the domes were not for big bore and no oring on the domes either.the sleeves need to be decked there not level.the port job looks to be not the best.when they put the bigbore sleeves in they didnt do the best job fitting them. ground off alot of metal and messed it up with the tranfer ports i think im not sure i was pretty mad and tired but there messed up anyways.

the engine came from mike at cycle house in utah.they gave a 1year warranty on the engine from the origanal owner who i bought it from,if they will honor it or if i want them to touch the banshee again i dont know.k and t qouted me 320 to somewhat fix it bore it 70 dollars deck it 50 dollars new domes 75 dollars orings 25dollars installing new pistons and rings 100 dollars. then new pistons will cost another 250 or so.man im so close to parting this out but i dont want to i just want a banshee i can ride banghead

thank you for all youre help
