That's about where I'm at. I think it's not a big deal until the porting gets done. The two big restrictions right now are the porting and carbs. Doing one without the other won't give much; any single restriction in a system limits the entire system. I'm looking at 30mm PWKs after the port work.

Depending on the porting, you can still use stock carbs with a ported engine but you might not be getting the full power the engine is capable of.

 

You do not need bigger carbs now but you would notice better throttle response with 28mm or 30mm Keihin PWK carbs - don't go any bigger without porting.

 

Alot of people like the 2 into 1 single carb set up with a 33mm-35mm carb - they claim a gain in bottom end power

I've got a mild port on mine. I used to run the stock carbs and at WOT you could feel (and hear) the engine starve for fuel. I'm running 28mm PWK's now and the engine pulls hard the whole way. It was a major change, worth the effort.
