trail rider Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 How good is an extended swing arm for trails and stuff? By extended, I mean like +4 or smaller. I also gots lots of steep hill climbs on my trails that are pretty straight and long, good to race up and stuff. What about flat trackin, and just playin around? I got me this little flat track set up in the field with lots of little 45, 90, and 180 degree turns where you can just pin the throttle and slide around them. Is it harder to slide with a longer swing arm? Quote
kenr74 Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 For hill climbs an extended arm wouldn't hurt but you may actually want a shorter one for on the track. Quote
locogato11283 Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 i wouldnt go anything longer than +2 for the trails. i used to run +2 in the trails but id prolly just run stock length now. i dont have problems keeping the front end down and i ran alot of hillclimbs last year with stock length swinger on. the longer you are ther harder its gonna be for you to turn, expecially if its tight turns. for mx type shit shorter would be much better..for hillclimbing its nice to be extended some so that you can keep your front end down easier. demonspeeding42069 Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 i wouldnt go anything longer than +2 for the trails. what he said .... if you do alot of sand draggin or hill draggin you would want prolly a +2 to a +4 arm to keep front end down. but that is if you got some power if you dont have alot of power i would just stay put with stock, not enough power = not alot of use for x swingarm except lookin good . and if you do alot of trail ridin i would stick with stock also.
