2004LEBanshee Posted January 10, 2005 Report Posted January 10, 2005 Does anyone run this. I have herd about amsol, klotz, castor, yama. I currently run 972 but was wondering how this was. Quote
ledofthezep Posted January 10, 2005 Report Posted January 10, 2005 Never ran it myself, so I couldn't tell ya; I'm sure when mixed correctly it's just fine...but I'll stick with my 927. I do run BelRay Gear saver in my case though. Quote
sredish Posted January 10, 2005 Report Posted January 10, 2005 Dunno, used to run MC1 and it was pretty good. I liked it. But, when I got this quad, the fella was using 927, so I just kept using it. Quote
SDD Posted January 11, 2005 Report Posted January 11, 2005 I use MC-1 and HR-1 premix... good stuff. The best part is the dye they use in the oil. You will know if you have mixed gas or straight gas for sure. MC-1 is blue green and HR-1 is red. Quote
2004LEBanshee Posted January 11, 2005 Author Report Posted January 11, 2005 so is the race gas I use "red" Quote
SDD Posted January 11, 2005 Report Posted January 11, 2005 so is the race gas I use "red" 305062[/snapback] Use MC-1 then... it will turn Blue Green Quote
chris642 Posted January 11, 2005 Report Posted January 11, 2005 the H1R doesnt turn the gas red. it looks more golden than straight gas, so a normal person should be able to tell the diffrence. i use H1R, when i took my cylinders off, the pistons were perfect so i say it works real good. im gonna switch to castor 927 in the summer when i run out the H1R, it gets pretty cold here and i heard 927 has a problem with seperating when its cold. plus passion suggested it at 40:1 so i might as well try it. maybe it will smoke less? but ive been wondering about klotz, i got some R50(i think thats the name) but i have yet to try it. it smells like bubblegum anyone run it? sredish Posted January 11, 2005 Report Posted January 11, 2005 I've been running 927 for awhile. I think it likes to seprate a little too much. Seems that if I let it sit for a week or so, or less in the winter, it really is fat and smoky when I start it up. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it shouldn't, it's a 2 stroke, but I think it's excessive. Also, when I did my rebuild, the pistons were really carboned. Maybe my jetting is too rich, dunno if that'd affect the carbon buildup. I just bought some Silkolene SX, I think it is. I like other Silkolene products, and my dealer goes through a lot, so I'm gonna try it and see if I like it any better. I used to run MC-1 and liked it, so maybe Bel Ray is where I need to be. Who knows, but I'm done with 927. Quote
hotrodbanshee Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 I noticed a lot of carbon buildup also with the castor 927. I am running it at 32:1. I talked with some guys and they told me to run it at 40:1 and it will burn cleaner. I will probley have to drop down my needle and main jet since the mixture will be thinner and follow more. Quote
