Otis Posted January 7, 2005 Report Posted January 7, 2005 hot coolant has a funky smell to it...did it leak coolant anywhere??.. What kinda gas are you using??...100+ octane smells too(exhaust) Quote
SDD Posted January 7, 2005 Report Posted January 7, 2005 Your describing your packing burning up. After a lot of oil build up on the packing, a long high rpm rip down a long straightaway will cause the packing to catch on fire inside of your silencers. It will sit there and smolder until lack of oxygen causes it to burn itself out. Pull your silencers and repack them. Quote
1qwkfox Posted January 7, 2005 Author Report Posted January 7, 2005 I have been running like a 80%-(93) 20%-(100) but I have rode it hard and never smelled this smell , though it didn't smell like burning coolant and I didn't see any leaking ( I moved my overflow so they wouldn't leak on my pipes).... The packing thing makes since now because he went probably 3/4-1mile wide open all the way there and all of the way back .. Thanks for the Help Guys .. Ps, SDD The clutch is Working awsome ! You are the one I was asking for advice when doing the clutch install if I'am not mistaken ! when the ball bearing fell out ! Ed Quote
