Ok tonite I started the bike ( 99 banshee) up cause 1 of my friends wanted to ride , SO i started the bike up let it warm up for a good 2-3 mins .. Well my buddy got on and went haulin ass down the road ..up the to the end of the block

3/4-1 mile or so well when he came back I got on turn the fuel off and ran the bowls out . park it in the garage. and after I shut it off it smelled weird and smoke was comming out of the exhuast like 3-4 mins later is this uncommon ?? I think the small was maybe brake but not sure cause I'am sure he was on them hard ..or mayb from where his pants where touching the pipe??

 

 

any ideas would be great ?

hot coolant has a funky smell to it...did it leak coolant anywhere??..

What kinda gas are you using??...100+ octane smells too(exhaust)

Your describing your packing burning up. After a lot of oil build up on the packing, a long high rpm rip down a long straightaway will cause the packing to catch on fire inside of your silencers. It will sit there and smolder until lack of oxygen causes it to burn itself out. Pull your silencers and repack them.

I have been running like a 80%-(93) 20%-(100) but I have rode it hard and never smelled this smell , though it didn't smell like burning coolant and I didn't see any leaking ( I moved my overflow so they wouldn't leak on my pipes)....

 

The packing thing makes since now because he went probably 3/4-1mile wide open all the way there and all of the way back ..

Ps, SDD The clutch is Working awsome ! You are the one I was asking for advice when doing the clutch install if I'am not mistaken ! when the ball bearing fell out :jesterlaugh: !
