Hey I have a couple of things to check that have happened to us. 1 Check your reeds and clean them. We have had build up on the reeds causing them to stick in the cold untill it is reved up. 2 take off your stator cover and make sure there is no water or rust between the pickup contact. Just some ideas

If you bought it at sea level and moved it to a higher elevation, then it'll run extremely rich. Get some stock needles and go from there.

Sounds very familiar.  Somebody out my way just had the same thing.  Check your connections.  Turned out that he had water in the stator to CDI plug and it wouldn't run right.  Dry them out and tape them up.

I need to go get an impact screwdriver, I cant get those screws out to get to the stator.
