Well my stock basket has a 1/4 in of back and forth movement on the gear. Can't decide what brand basket to get Hinson,PE,Vortex,Dalton,Vito's. I noticed the hinson is most expensive @ $189.00 thru rockymountainatv. Are these all about the same quality.

i do believe hinsons have stainless steal inserts along the fingers to reduce wear.i opted for a wiseco, personal pereference to me

as far as it movin back and forth... i ran my stock basket that way 4 a very long time... raced it every weekend... if that is the only reason ur wanting a new 1 i would just keep runnin it and put the $$$ elsewhere :shrugani:

Just because you were dumb enough to run yours like that doesn't mean everyone else is.

Bad parts will wear on good parts.A little extra clearance or wear in one area will f-up other areas. You could either fix this little problem now and spend a little or wait till it takes its toll on other components.then your talkin big bucks.

And I'm not just talkin about a banshee engine, that goes for ANY type of moving machinery.

Take your axle bearings for example, sure you can ride around with wasted bearings and it probably won't hurt the axle, but your chain, sprokects, swingarm bearings and frame will take the beating. The force created by the excessive clearance has to go somewhere,so its transferred to other components, with a hammering effect.

An excessively sloppy clutch basket will wear on the clutchshaft bearing, drive gear ect.Its common sense, obviously some people here don't possess any.If you have any concept of the mechanics of machinery, its easy to understand.

its just the cushions that r bad... aftermarket basket will do the same thing but u can replace them... just about every shee i have taken apart has the same thing... clutchshaft bearin wear??? and its not harder on the gears than dumpin the clutch... maybe u dont understand

Its called prevenative maintenance, obviously you know nothing about it.

I could sit here and try to explain it to you in simple terms,I could even draw pictures, but if your dumb enough to to let something like that go for that long, you probably wouldn't get it anyway.

My intention was not to dis you D34,only to inform Hotrod that he should replace the basket.

If all your doing is running circles around a track, then its easy to push it off and onto a trailer when it break down.

But when your 15-20 miles deep in the woods, its not that easy.I have a sticker on both of my shees that have a towtruck with a slash through it.

My biggest pet peeve is lack of maintenance.I used to ride with alot of other banshees, but I realized that some people enjoy breaking down constantly and f-ing up everyone elses good time, needless to say I don't ride with them anymore.

I'm not stone cold either,if somene called me and told me they needed to fix something during the week so they could survive the weekend ride,I'm the first to lend a hand, but if they decide to take there chances,I ain't riding with them.Everone knows shit happens, but most of it could be avoided.

i do have more than 1 shee (4 shees total)... so i dont just get on the track... im just sayin "I" have never seen the cushions where out and cause a problem... dis or no dis its all good

my clutch basket also has some play but it is not affecting my shifting yet. i don't think a little play hurts. more than likely you can take a brand new stock basket dump the clutch a few times and it will start to get play in it.hell i would not even know that i had play in the basket if i would not have pulled the cover

i'm with nightrider. imy clutch grabs very high and it is set up perfect. the arrows on my motor and clutch arm line up perfect. i got a tiny bit of slack in my lever and everything too. but it still grabs right at the top. so it's gotta be the basket right? the clutch is pretty new and i don't wanna wear a clutch out cas of a bad basket. "preventitive maintenence" lol. i'm considering the whole bunch too. the PE one is bout 150 or so and they go up from there. is there reallty that big of a difference between a cheaper one and a barnett with the stainless inserts? and are those inserts replaceable? recommendatins would be great. thanks guys!

My new basket has play after 4 hard weekends. When in gear you will always have tension on the cushions.. they are made to wear. As long as they are gone and hitting metal to metal they are doing their job. Now, I could see if you droped it in gear from neutral and hit the gas real hard at the same time the slack being rough... but even in neutral there is tension to keep the slop out of the basket.
