slowpokebanshee Posted January 2, 2005 Report Posted January 2, 2005 I can't leave well enough alone, I swapped out my PT Mids, for some toomey T-5, and lost all my bottom end, but I like the top end gains, I also intend on having a "dune" port done in the future, I ride mostly glamis, duning, and race the hills a bit. should I keep the T-5s or opt for PT high revs, or CPI all are readily availabel, with the proper trading. but I do miss the bottom end with the mids.....thanks. (the toomeys do look awesome) Quote
Ducman Posted January 2, 2005 Report Posted January 2, 2005 Well, if you get a true dune port you will loose even more bottom end. If that is a big conscern I might go with more of a MX port. I don't think any high rev pipe will give you a whole lot better bottom end over the others. I think the rockets have a slight edge in low rpm torque over the 3 you list, but I'm not very familiar with pt-hi rev. If you haven't advanced the timing +4, lightened the flywheel, or added compression (mill stock head, or smaller cool head domes), those are all good inexpensive mods to help bottom end power delivery. Some reeds may smooth out the lightswitch power hit of the toomys a little too. Quote
05bansh Posted January 2, 2005 Report Posted January 2, 2005 I was trying to decide between the T-5's and the cpi's. I just ordered the cpi's. From most people I talked to they said the cpi's will give you more all around power, even in the low end over the T-5's. The cpi's are drag pipes...you cant go wrong in my opinion. Especially if you are planning on porting. But when it all comes down to it they are still both good pipes. Quote
Banchetta Posted January 2, 2005 Report Posted January 2, 2005 I thought the T5's had more bottom end than the CPI's, but I didn't jet in the CPI's so that can be a factor. The T5's had decent low end for a high rev though. I just go some Pt highs for my stroker and took the mids off. Gained some high revs, but not a lot, but in turn I didn't lose hardly any bottom end. So to answer you question, I'd say Pt high revs.. Quote
H250RHATER Posted January 3, 2005 Report Posted January 3, 2005 (edited) i have the cpi's and ill tell u if ur gonna get port there gonna be crazzy there realy nice i ride them w/ a passion racing mx port there low end isn't the best but i can say it brings me out of the pack quick enough to hit the mid range and top end power take the lead i couldnt imagen them with a passion 12 port- port job "dunning" if ur getting dune port and goin to glamis id say they give u the power un need for an infame pipe they make the most hp and shearer only makes one more hp so id say there preety good pipes look around on the sight ull find a dyno of them cpi makes 72hp and sheare makes 73 i saw it some where around here when it was posted Edited January 3, 2005 by H250RHATER Quote
tats4life Posted January 3, 2005 Report Posted January 3, 2005 i'm was running mids on a patriot racing built mx motor, with a long rod crank...i sold the crank and the mids. put a stock stroke hot rod back in with pt high revs...after talking to my builder...the motor should run just about the same but i'll come on around 1/4 throttle instead of right of idle. I'd much rather run t-5's or t-6's than a full on drag pipe like a cpi....that's just for my style of riding. Quote

slowpokebanshee Posted January 4, 2005 Author Report Posted January 4, 2005 thanks for the advise, I think I will try to round up some pt high revs, and see how those compare, Quote
