I just purchased the alba rear set-up which comes with elka rear shock, swingarm, rear brake line (briaded) axle carrier, and lonestar axle now my question is this the guy who sold me the stuff said that i do not use the linkage setup which i guess is the shock likage the little u shaped dogbone. So does that mean that i just bolt the rear shock to the top shock mount on the frame and then the bottom rate to the swingarm and i completly eliminate the linkage and bolt nothing up[ there cuase that's what he told me he said that i only need the linkage if i was heavier but i'm only 145. so is that how it works anyone ever use this swingarm

They make "no link" swingarms but iv never heard of em used on a Banshee before. The no link setup is used alot on 250rs and when you run a no link swingarm on the R you have to use a different rear shock. I would assume it would be the same for the Banshee. A stock rear shock should be too long, depending where on the swingarm the shock mount is located. Since you got a shock with the swingarm "kit" you should be good to go. bolt it all together and then you'll know for sure if its setup right or wrong.

I noticed the Trinity sandahl banshee didn't have the linkage system either. Rear shock bottom was bolted straight to the swinger. So that is at least 1 shee or maybe 2 that has it.

D34 runs a no-link but his top shock mount is relocated. One thing to consider about not using the linkage is that your rear shock really needs to have more than one spring rate (dual rate, triple rate, quad rate) because that's what the linkage does; it progressively increases the spring rate as the swingarm moves through it's range of motion...at least that's the way I understand it. I'm guessing that the stock upper rear shock mounting location doesn't place the shock upright enough to take advantage of a no-link setup, or at least where you're wanting longer suspension travel, in a drag application I'm sure it would work great and save some unneccessary weight...

They seem to be pretty rare, but there are places that make swingarms for Banshees that don't use a linkage:

ive got a no-linkage setup for mx. its an after market frame and the rear shock mount seems really high compared to stock. cant comment on how it compares to the stock setup as i havent ridden one but it works nicely
