mat Posted November 30, 2004 Report Posted November 30, 2004 I want to paint the springs on my stock shocks, but it doesn't appear that I can remove the springs from the shocks. Does anybody have any advise on how I can either remove the springs, or otherwise paint the springs while they are on the shocks, with out painting the whole shock? Thanks. Quote
DUNEDEMON Posted November 30, 2004 Report Posted November 30, 2004 If you are talking about the front shocks you can compress the spring, slide the bumpstop down towards the top of the shock body and then using a 14mm wrench removbe the top mount, release the tension on the spring and get painting. The rear shock will also require the use of a compressor, compress the spring and slide out the lower spring perch / keeper, release the ternsion on the spring and get to painting. Good luck. Forgot to add, backing the pre-load all the way off first will make the job easier, compress the front springs against the LOWER perch, compress the rear spring against the UPPER perch. Quote
mat Posted November 30, 2004 Author Report Posted November 30, 2004 Excellent, this is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks. Quote
racer Posted November 30, 2004 Report Posted November 30, 2004 compress the front springs against the LOWER perch, compress the rear spring against the UPPER perch. 286830[/snapback] so towards the can which ever way that may be? Quote

DUNEDEMON Posted December 2, 2004 Report Posted December 2, 2004 ^ Good point Loco, the PC will be much more durable than conventional paint. Quote
