87sheerips Posted November 11, 2004 Report Posted November 11, 2004 OK, just about done with the shee. The chain was too long when I first installed it, so I took a link off (which is actually 2) now it is about 1/8th inch too short. I was running a 45 rear sprocket, and now ordered a 42 to split the difference, think itll work out?? Quote
ledofthezep Posted November 11, 2004 Report Posted November 11, 2004 If it's only off an 1/8 of an inch, then when you get the new sprocket you'll be just fine. Quote
dynabanshee Posted November 12, 2004 Report Posted November 12, 2004 Is there not enough adjustment left on your carrier to give you a little more play? Oh, BTW, can you add links once you remove them (like getting another master link)? Never needed to, but wondered... heh. Quote
fixitrod Posted November 12, 2004 Report Posted November 12, 2004 The more master links you have the more chance for failure.... but yes, you can add more chain by using another masterlink. I've done it before. Quote

If not, I have seen swingarms modified where you remove the axle carrier and make the slots longer that the bottom bolt rides in. Just use a Dremel and grind the slot about a 1/2" further towards the front of the swingarm. Try to maintain the same arc/radius that is already there. I have used a swingarm that was modified like this before with no problems. Quote
