new owner needs carb help...twist/thumb

Hi Guys,

first time banshee owner. 1989, bored 40 over, reeds, stock pipes, tors removed, twist throttle, MJ's are up two sizes. (so I'm told) amsoil 50:1

 

question is....I want to return to the thumb throttle...can't stand a twist on an atv. Since no tors is in place, will any throttle body and cable do, or must it be a particular item? Or, do I not have to replace the cable at all and only the body?

 

second part....this thing really screams! But, it won't idle on its own. Should a change be made on the idle screws? details please.

 

third....the 50:1 ratio is bothering me...is it acceptable? (yes it smokes) Being a greenhorn to the two stroke world, I'll take some honest suggestions on pre-mixes.

I run 32-1, never had a problem.

Yes, turn the idle up. you should have idle screws added to the carbs.

don't know about the cable.

Yes, you will need a new cable. The distance between the adjustment on the throttle housing is different. When you adjust your idle screws make your you do both exactly the same.
