My banshee overheats on me alot.... Today while I was out riding, I prolly made about 6-7 runs against 125's, etc.... then when I come to let it cool down, engine coolant was spitting out... I was wondering is this common? I mean my shee overheats on me when im jus out on my lil field, jus hitting the top of 3rd... and riding wheelies.. I spit coolant out about 8times today and I thought it was common....

I was wondering what could I do to make this problem go away.. and have any of you guys/gals had this prob banghead

Lots of things can cause over heating. Check your jetting and make sure you aren't running too lean.

yeppers.... jetting is 1 of the big keys to overheating...check ur plugs

get an inline cooler. they only cost like 20$ and i used to over heat like 10 times a day, but since i put mine on, it hasnt overheated one time.

yep, U can try that inline coolers r only good 4 about 5 to 10 degrees.. also try engine ice for coolant...

check your head gasket too. if it is leakin cylinder pressure into the waterjackets it will pressurize the system and force the coolant out.

You need to get this fixed or else your going to be rebuilding your engine in the near future. First things first, Run some good gas in it. Dont run some cheap unleaded gas, go for the premium or race gas if you have lots of compression. Bite the bullet and pay the $16 for engine ice, It will do wonders. Make sure you are jetted right. If you dont know how to check your jetting just say so and we can tell you how, its easy. Tighten all your hose clamps down. The inline cooler is the last thing you should get to help out. Dont drag your feet on doing this, you will be glad when you get it fixed. Good luck

While everyone has good advice if in fact your shee is actually overheating......I have to ask you this.

Is your overflow bottle still in the same location???? Is it real full??? Alot of shees seem to be overheating when in fact they are not. The stock overflow bottle location is a poor design from the factory. For instance.......Going up a steep hill, or wheelying.....makes the coolant "slosh" up into the tube that runs over your pipes......when you go back down hill, that coolant that was forced into the tube then runs out, over your pipes.......That is why you think it is overheating.

I do not remember the site that has the picture of where to relocate the bottle to, but i'm sure taht someone will chime in soon enough. If no one remembers the site, get in touch with me....I'll try to explain it better.

I would take a good guess that this is your problem......you arent actually overheating.....or maybe you are. ??

I would check your overflow bottle first. If it is real full.....empty it out a bit, maybe even empty it to the low mark. See if the problem goes away....if it does, you shouldnt have any problems at all.

I dont even use the overflow bottle anymore.....I relocated it to get rid of the same problem you are having, but then had to move it to put on a steering stabilizer......I meant to put it back on, but never had any problems with it off.....I just regularly check the level in my radiator...Havent had to top it off at all!!!

Good luck

ok thats not normal. there are some good ideas here but if you are overheating in just a couple runs then you have a prob. not something that just engine ice or an inline cooler are gunna fix. maybe you aren't overheating at all. ok.. if your head gasket is no good (as mentioned above) you will blow coolant out the over flow cause the head gasket is allowing exhaust to enter the coolant and pressurizeing the system. run it and see if your radiator is getting warm all over. not just at the top but all over. if it is then check your head gasket. if it isn't getting an even warm temp all over then you better check your impeller and impeller gear and see if one is fuked up. if the rod holding your impeller gear in place is spinning in the gear you will overheat and if your impeller is broke or stripped it will overheat also . you need to make sure it is def over heating. Remember if your rad. isnt getting an even hot/warm all over then you are not circulateing coolant and you have a problem (most likely with your impeller or impeller gear) if your rad is gettin warm and you are spitting coolant out the overflow then change your head gasket. (and when you take it off look at the head/cylinder decking to see if there is black on one or the other from exhaust passing through them this will tell you that your head gasket was def. the problem. GOOD LUCK!!!

trust me Ive been exactly where you are now and it is a pain in the ass... makes you feel like this bangheadbangheadbanghead:angry::(:confused:
