bansheetimes2 Posted October 12, 2004 Report Posted October 12, 2004 I'm not usually the type to brag but I finally can pull a wheelie through first and second. It was definitely hairy the first few tries, but i'm getting relatively comfortable with it. I was always told the hardest part of wheelying is shifting gears with the front tires up in the air.... KRMit Posted October 12, 2004 Report Posted October 12, 2004 Good job, now come show me how to do it. I've only successfully shifted once. The front tires usually drop as soon as I grab the clutch. Quote
jeepman137 Posted October 12, 2004 Report Posted October 12, 2004 yea, come show me too, well actually show me the regular wheelie first, im still too much of a p*ssy to try a regular one... but in time i will do it, hehe Quote
bansheetimes2 Posted October 12, 2004 Author Report Posted October 12, 2004 Yeah for the longest time I could pull decent wheelies in first, you know get the rpms into the power band, let off the throttle completely then punch it, but I couldn't keep accelerating to keep it up, so I had to figure out a way to keep accelerating. So I tried several times shifting and as soon as i'd hit that clutch down it would come. So I talked to my cousin that raced motocross for years and he mentioned not using the clutch when shifting doing a wheelie. I tried it and it works, I could shift and keep it up for maybe another second but then it would come down. I realized the problem I was having was I was in the power band in 1st but when I shifted to 2nd I wouldn't be in the power band and the front wheels would drop after a second. So you have to get the front wheels up and let the rpms really creep up then when you do hit second you'll be in the power band in second also. Kind of tricky to explain. But if you can keep it in the power band you'll have the power to control your wheelie, and as other people have said, get real intimate with your rear brake, mainly to prevent tipping back to far. United Pot Smoker Posted October 13, 2004 Report Posted October 13, 2004 yeah, its the fear of tipping back that makes you forget where that break lever is. i havent done it but i know how possible that is. very, Quote
Trick2stroke Posted October 13, 2004 Report Posted October 13, 2004 Yeah its alot easier to wheelie not using the clutch, thats how I started out on my blaster, but once I got some rear brakes I could use the clutch cause if I went to far back I could controle myself. Quote
