bansheecaptain Posted September 28, 2004 Report Posted September 28, 2004 i was just woundering what the stock pilots were because i have changed the needle and the main to as close as i can , but at the bottem end it's boggy even when it's idleing but when i pull the choke it clears up so i think i have to go up one size but i'm not sure ... seems like it's rich but when i stomp on the gas it clears up on the power band it's just before the power band that it's shitty... thank you for all your help and info Quote
banshee76179 Posted September 28, 2004 Report Posted September 28, 2004 (edited) stock pilots r 25 .. may need to lower ur clip to lean it out.. Chris Edited September 28, 2004 by banshee76179 Quote
Banchetta Posted September 29, 2004 Report Posted September 29, 2004 A lot of people make the mistake of thinking the needle is rich because of the hesitation before powerband or that "booooooooogggggg" That is a indication of a lean condition from either the pilot or needle. If it starts hard when cold even w/ the choke on, then go to a larger pilot. If it starts great, then raise the needle by lowering the clip towards the tapered end. Quote
bansheecaptain Posted September 29, 2004 Author Report Posted September 29, 2004 the needle is already up all the way if i remember correctly Quote

If I wait till the following day,it takes about 10 good kicks even with full choke to get her started. She runs and idles great and shows no sign of hesitation anywhere. It even puffs out a little bit of smoke at idle After shees warmed up. It doesn't bother me since it doesn't effect performance and a fresh plug will produce a tanish brown color if I just let it idle fo 5 minutes after warm-up.Basically everything looks good. The compression is 185psi and I usually run 110.Any ideas Banchetta?Could the compression cause this/Or maybe the fuel? Its got me scratchin my head. Quote

That's what I did (go up on the pilot) and it fixed my hesitation. I'd recommend trying it out... What's working for me is a 30 pilot and the needle on the second clip from the blunt end Quote

My guess is that your fuel and oil are separating. Shake the quad back and forth a little before you try to start it. This should help. Quote
Nightrider Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 I'm not really sure how,but the fuel bowls were swapped.Been like that since I bought the carbs off Ebay over a year ago.Never used them until I picked up this other banshee. The little gold ball(air bleed) caught my eye today when I was rerouting the wire harness for the engine. Then it all came together.I was soo pissed,I never checked to see if the fuel bowls were on the right side,I bought the carbs and I was told they came off a running banshee. When I changed jets,I didn't even notice it The banshee can be a bitch to start with a non-operating choke. After the swap, she started on first kick at half choke.Thats what happens when you get too high before doing any major assembly. My advice...work first..toke later. Quote
Banchetta Posted October 1, 2004 Report Posted October 1, 2004 That was easy. Your supposed to wait for the suggestion before you give the answer... Quote
