fixitrod Posted August 28, 2004 Report Posted August 28, 2004 (edited) I've been having shifting trouble since the end of roostfest. I took the clutch off last night and noticed my shift for looked adjusted properly as it had before. After diggin into it I found that the "cam" that looks like a flat head screw was loose. There is a nut on the bottom that is suppose to tighten to hold that cam in place. Mine was loose so everytime I tried to actually shift It cam unadjusted. Edited August 28, 2004 by fixitrod Quote

I've loosened mine before, and tried like hell to get it tight. I hope I did. I didn't disassemble anything to get to it, I just kind of manuvered a wrench in there sort of.... Quote
rebelbanshee2 Posted August 28, 2004 Report Posted August 28, 2004 i too have been having minor troubles...only from 3rd to 4th every so often. when i took my clutch abart due to gear explosion i noticed mine too was loose. hopefully this was the fix Quote
J.J. Posted August 28, 2004 Report Posted August 28, 2004 Thanks for the heads-up, I'm having problems shifting 2nd to 3rd on pavement. (I've lost a few drags against my buddies 450 because of this ) But then, shouldn't the loose cam problem be common through all the gears? Confused... Quote
fixitrod Posted August 28, 2004 Author Report Posted August 28, 2004 That's exactly what my problem was. I couldn't get out of second under power. If I was putting along it was fine. Must have something to do with the way the torque is on the shift star. Quote
