loganskinner Posted August 26, 2004 Report Posted August 26, 2004 i was trying to clean my pipes up a little bit the other day and i noticed that when i shake the silencers, they rattle. i was told i needed to repack them. how do i do that? can i do that or should i take them somewhere? Quote
ngelati Posted August 26, 2004 Report Posted August 26, 2004 Here's an article, that fixitrod found for me... I think it would help Later, Nicolas http://www.atvrideronline.com/tech/freehp/ Quote
frocashmoney24 Posted August 26, 2004 Report Posted August 26, 2004 its fairly easy take the outside cover off the inside core with 3 bolts (depends on the silencer) then cut all the old silencer packing out, then wrap the new shit on there, not to tight, but not to loose, you'll figure it out when you try to stuff the core back inside the outter shell, and your done Quote
Crazy Diamond Posted August 30, 2004 Report Posted August 30, 2004 There is a company called Silent Sport. They make a sleeve that you just slide over the core of your silencer. They work great and last longer that that wrap on packing. Cheaper in the long run also. Your local quad dealer should be able to order you one. Quote
bansheeryder_69 Posted August 30, 2004 Report Posted August 30, 2004 Do you even have to repack them cause mine need it and I don't want to plus i heard it givs you more airflow and power???? Quote
loganskinner Posted August 30, 2004 Author Report Posted August 30, 2004 yes. i finally just did it. wow it was a lot easier than i thought. but my pipes are like 3 yrs old and the packing was almost gone and when i got them back in, damn did i feel a difference. they were quieter, and i definately had more torque it felt like. Banshee~ Posted August 30, 2004 Report Posted August 30, 2004 I just rap it as tight as i could get it and used masking tape to hold it in place.. Quote
