kenr74 Posted August 23, 2004 Report Posted August 23, 2004 I'd check for an airleak on the popping side. Quote
Bansheeman1121 Posted August 23, 2004 Author Report Posted August 23, 2004 YEAh i just replaced both intake manifolds tho so i dont no if there can be a leak but im defiantly gonna check becuase thats why i had to rebuild in the 1st place, its noyt loud backfiring its just slight poping like i said one pipe sounds rough like a dirtbike the other smooth like the shee Quote
Tony E Posted August 25, 2004 Report Posted August 25, 2004 I'm having the same problem. I thought it was from burning oil on the right side but had that seal replaced. The right side seams to only fire every 3rd or 4th time while the left is smooth as silk. Let me know what you come up with on yours Quote
Tony E Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 I've been troubleshooting with mine again and found out that not only do I have the poping on the right side at low RPMs, It doesn't fire at all when I rap it way up. Left side runs smooth and the right doesn't even blow hardly any air out the exhuast. Anybody run into this before or have any advice? Quote
wielandr Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 i had the same problem turned out that my stator was on its last leg .. try checkin that Quote
Holyman Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 Stator failure should not cause just one cyl to act up. The coil fires on both wires at the same time so check your plugs, boots and spark plug wires. I had a similar problem with mine and it turned out to be a spark plug boot. Got a bunch of fine grit in there and wore out the contact with the top of the plug. It would only fire some times and almost never when it was damp out. I got 2 new boots and a foot of new plug wire for under $15 from the dealer and problem solved. Quote
Tony E Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 I wish it was just a bad wire, but I switched them around and changed plugs and its still just the right side. It seems that every half revolution, which would be the right side, is a weak spark. I'm going to try a new stator and hope it works. Quote
Holyman Posted August 28, 2004 Report Posted August 28, 2004 I'd do a leak down test first. Just to make sure you don't have a more serious problem. Quote
