SandShooter Posted August 22, 2004 Report Posted August 22, 2004 I have my bottom end apart to have the crank welded and I found the gear on the clutch basket is a little loose. The manual says any movement is bad. The gear moves about 1/16 to 1/8. Also the clutch push rod is discolored on the end, looks like it got really hot. Quote

Sounds like the rubber clutch cushions inside the basket are going. You will have to drill out the rivets holding the gear on, and then replace the cushions. My Hinson basket came with bolts to hold the assembly together, you may be able to do this with the stock basket. You would be better off with a new basket that is made to go together like this.
