Holyman Posted August 21, 2004 Report Posted August 21, 2004 If you got the paper style filter, it is probably for the RZ. They are narrower and taller than the one for the banshee. Quote
lincster Posted August 21, 2004 Report Posted August 21, 2004 Yep, mine, and 2 of my buddies do the same thing. No biggie. Has been like that for 3 years or hard dune riding. Quote
sheeintoxicated Posted August 21, 2004 Author Report Posted August 21, 2004 Ok ,thanks guys I just wanted to make sure it won't fall off. Quote
lincster Posted August 21, 2004 Report Posted August 21, 2004 Welllll, I never said anything about it falling off. I had mine come off once in the dunes. It wasn't due to hitting the seat, I think it was due to being on my bike all summer and the oil from the filter ran down the intakes and got around the carbs where the filter connects. It got hot and slipped off after riding for a day. The lesson I learned was to always clean my filter before every trip and make very sure the mating surfaces are very clean and dry. Also don't overoil your filter. Quote
prichard9966 Posted August 22, 2004 Report Posted August 22, 2004 i loved my toomey 2:1 air filter setup. i went to bigger carbs and can no longer use it. i swore you could get them for larger carbs to but i was wrong. anyway whatever you do do not use the stock hose clamps. they will screw down all the way and stop clamping. find a good stainless band clamp and use it. if you can't find a skinny enough clamp of that diameter connect about three small ones and it will never fall off. decon Posted August 24, 2004 Report Posted August 24, 2004 i went to bigger carbs and can no longer use it. i swore you could get them for larger carbs to but i was wrong. why not try using some adapter boots for the carbs? Quote
ledofthezep Posted August 24, 2004 Report Posted August 24, 2004 Have you tried rotating the filter itself? Quote
sheeintoxicated Posted August 31, 2004 Author Report Posted August 31, 2004 Yes guys,I try moving the filter but it still hits the top of the seat. Quote
ledofthezep Posted August 31, 2004 Report Posted August 31, 2004 Are the carbs seated good? Stock carbs & intake boots? Do you have reed spacers? Quote
lincster Posted September 1, 2004 Report Posted September 1, 2004 Yes guys,I try moving the filter but it still hits the top of the seat. I thought I already said this, it is normal for it to hit the seat. My bike and 3 of my buddies all use this air filter. We all have stock carbs and intake boots and all of the filters hit the bottom of the seat. No big deal. Quote
