well I was going to purchase some CPI pipes last week, and then a buddy of mine gave me some pipes, for free.....they are paul turner, how do I tell the difference between high rev, or mids?

and they did not come with silencers, so which silencers will fit these pipes?

also where is a good starting point on jetting?

sea level (San Diego/Glamis)

stock carbs w/ clamp on k&n filters

stock motor

87 octane w/40:1 redline

thank you

There is a square metal plate on each pipe. It says banchee...lol [not banshee] hi rev or mid range and the year they were manufactured... you could try to use your stock silencers they may work, Not sure or your going to have to buy a set of paul turner fatboy silencers new or used.. maybe check ebay if your stockers don't fit. your jetting will be anywhere from a 280-300 and a 25-30 pilot. I would start with a 300 main jet and 27 or 30 pilot jet, start big and work your way down. do a WOT plug chop when you think you have it where you want it.

black and wet = rich, white= lean and choco brown to dark tan is perfect.

good luck

yeah, those are pretty fugly. I bid like $50 for them and if I win, I'll strip them, paint them, try them out and then resell them depending on if they work, that is if they still run. It's worth risking $50.

I'm bored and need something to do. My shee just sits there and I've been wanting to get my hands on a pair of PT mids really bad.

Thanks for the heads up tats.

thanks for the info, I am going to try them with the stock silencers this weekend, for fit unfortunately won't get a chance to ride for another week or so, I will start with 290 main jet, and 27.5 pilot, and go from there, I was at duncans site, they say stock pilot, needle and 290 with open air box....hopefully I can run this setup until I can come across some used silencers, for these pipes, duncan want's 229 for the pair?

no offense, but they don't look much nicer than say DG silencers but twice as much money????

anyone know where I can find them cheaper?

Prolly Ebay is the best bet. Go to images and down to "My new 89 banshee" by Minkia 38. He is running FMF powercore twos. So they must fit or can be adapted real easy.

okay I installed the pipes today, they are mid range, and I was able to use the stock silencers, for now, curious if I should still start with 290-300 mj, or maybe smaller, due to factory silencers...duncan says 280 mj, w/open airbox, 4th clip needle, stock pilot.

I have clamp on K&N's w/stock silencers, and 27.5 pilots, stock needle clip position, 250 mj. looks to be fairly lean 6th gear plug chop shows very light, but with new plugs, not sure if it's accurate, felt lean though not much on top....play some more tomorrow hopefully.

You could open up your stock silencers and pull some of the shit outta them. I'd still say you'll be around 280 or 290. Also, your plugs will really need an hour or so of good riding to start coloring properly. I like to use old nasty plugs for checks, as they've been through multiple heat cycles. Get it to where it's running really good, maybe around 280 and then go ride for awhile, or if you have a ride planned, then that will work. Ride it for an hour or two and get her nice and hot and then check them, the color will come in a lot more.
